Meredith's p.o.v
* * * *

"Baby, take some of these pancakes home—tell the guys Mary sent them." I wink, joking about the fact that he had to lie about who he was with to Mikey.

"I didn't think you heard that." Luke winces.

"I did and it was hysterical."

"Well I'm glad you got a good kick out of it—I'm sure I'll see you soon. I'll text you when I'm home."

I quickly stand on my tip toes and peck Luke's lips before he scurries down the stairs of the front porch. I shut the front door before heading to my bedroom and picking up my phone. Many texts from Ashton, Calum and Mason—1 from Mikey.

Mikey:
who's a little bitch....

I roll my eyes and head to my contacts, clicking on Ashton's name before holding the phone to my ear. It rings once before he answers, "I thought you like–died."

"Good to know you wouldn't come looking for me if you thought I died."

"Shut up."

"Luke brought me home yesterday and I passed out, didn't wake up till this morning. How was your date with Daisy last night?"

"It was great—god she's so pretty and smart and funny and personable."

"Good, I'm so glad."

"Aaaaand that is why I want all of us to go out to dinner tonight—so you can all meet her."

"Oh—wow, really?"

"Absolutely. She's so stoked to meet everyone."

"Okay then. I'll be at the house by seven.."

"Cool—oh Luke just got here—do you know the girl Mary he was with last night? Mikey told me about her and I've never heard of her before."

"I have no clue who she is." I smile to myself.

"Hmmm—I'll tell him he can bring her tonight then."

I bite my lip to suppress a laugh, "You do that. I'm gonna go get my shit together. My laundry is so backed up."

"Alright, I'll let you go babysis. I'll see you tonight!"

"Bye pal."

I hang up and quickly shoot Luke a text.

Meredith:
Ashton said you could bring that Mary girl tonight.. ;)

I set my phone down for not even a second before Luke texts me back.

Luke:
hmm... might have to invite her.

Meredith:
thanks for telling me you were home by the way.

Luke:
hush. I'm home baby. xx

Meredith:
thank you xx i love you

Luke:
i love you

I began to type back when my roommate from Pitt, Gwen, pops across my screen for a call. I smile, answering it quickly.

"Hey beautiful lady! I miss you!" I smile for the other line.

"Hey, Mere! I miss you so much! How's everything back home?" Gwen asks.

"Amazing—really amazing."

"I'm so glad—well listen, I sent you a few pics of some houses to rent in Pittsburgh—I think there's one apartment too—if you want to take a peak at them when you have a second."

My heart instantly sinks at the mere thought of having to leave Ashton, Cal, Mikey and most importantly, Luke.

"Oh right. Yeah, I'll give them a look and let you know my opinions." I half smile, rubbing the side of my arm nervously.

"Awesome—well, I have a brunch to go to with Alan and some friends—I'm stoked you're having fun, but I cannot wait to see you again, my love!"

"Same here, Miss Gwen. Have fun at your brunch."

"Always when there food involved." She laughs and I join her.

"Alright, I'll talk to later Mere! Love you!"

"Love you!"

Then falls silent and I'm left confused, mixing different thoughts around my head. This was going to be one of the hardest decisions of my life.

Sure, I had to go back to the U.S to finish my last year of school, but did I want to reside there for good anymore? I don't want to let Gwen down and I've met so many amazing people who are ready to get me started on my career—but there's Luke now. Everything is different.

I love Luke so much, how could I abandon him? I can't abandon him, I should say. He would be devastated, angry, and confused as to why I hadn't told him sooner.

Maybe because you haven't even made up your own mind up about it yet.

I sighed, locking my phone before throwing it onto the bed. I grab a towel and head into the bathroom, turning on the shower head before beginning to undress.

Showering with Luke was way better than showering alone. I thought about his lips on mine, arms around me while we giggled and the warm water seeped into our hair. It was so easy to be with him. His laugh is infectious, that smile of his could win my heart over and over again—and the way he calls me pretty girl all the time gives me an intense feeling I will never be able to shake. Something about all the cute pet names just drove me crazy.

Add that to the list of things I would miss if I left permanently.

I shake my head and jump in the shower, trying to shake the stomach churning thoughts from my brain. I quickly wash my hair, wishing it were Luke, again. He just did it much better than I did, or maybe it's just because it was him.

I shave my legs quickly and hop out of the shower, wrapping my towel around my body before exiting the bathroom.

I head over to my closet and rummage through different outfit choices before deciding on a nude body-con dress and a creme colored blazer over top of it.

I quickly change, wrapping my hair into the towel when I receive a text from Luke.

Luke:
how's my girl doin?

I smile at the use of "my girl" before typing back to him.

Meredith:
getting ready for dinner, as you should be.

Luke:
im ready already pal

Meredith:
ouuuu, lemme see ;)

Luke:
nope, you have to wait.

Meredith:
Why?:,(

Luke:

Luke:

Meredith:

Luke:

Meredith:
