Meredith's p.o.v
* * * *"Can I hold your hand?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because we aren't dating right now, Luke. We're friends going out to dinner with friends."
"I just wanna hold your hand." Luke pouts as we walk through the front door to the restaurant. I sigh and turn to face him, "I know, Lu—but we can't right now and you know that."
"Can we just tell him already?" Luke groans, cupping my cheeks with his hands. I tug my lip between my teeth, "We'll do it tomorrow when he's in a good mood. Okay?"
Luke narrows his eyes at me before sighing and nodding his head, "Okay, fine. Now, gimme a kiss." He demands. I giggle and stand on my tip toes, locking my lips with his for a moment before pulling away.
"Mmm," Luke hums before licking his bottom lip and smiling, "Cherry chapstick?"
I nod, "It's new."
"I like it—gimme another one." He smiles before leaning in again. I push him back gently, "Enough you little flirt—let's go, we're late."
I turn around and as I begin to walk away, Luke slaps my ass and a few of the employees stare at me as a gasp. I snap my head around to look at Luke who's laughing lightly to himself.
"Not funny."
"Hilarious."
Luke follows behind me as I find our table. Ashton and Daisy sat on one side, Mason and Calum across from them and Mikey sat next to Calum. Ashton spots me and waves me over to sit next to him. Only the there was another guy that would be sitting on the other side of me.
I glance back at Luke who nods his head before I sit down next to Ashton. He smiles, "Meredith, this is Caleb—Caleb, this is my sister Meredith."
I turn to the guy, named Caleb, and smile, "Nice to meet you." I stick my hand out for him to shake. He smiles lightly and shakes my hand.
"Pleasures all mine, Meredith." Caleb smiles back at me, staring deeply into my eyes. I awkwardly turn back to Ashton who's smiling like an idiot with Daisy.
"Caleb and I have been friends for so long and he's a business major at uni. I thought maybe you guys would hit it off." Daisy smiles lightly.
"Oh. That's very kind of you." I say, glancing over at Luke who looks like his blood is boiling in his veins.
Daisy, Ashton and Calum begin talking again and I sit there quietly. Were they really trying to set me up with this guy? I'm an adult, who has a boyfriend, and they're trying to play matchmaker?
Granted, they don't know I even have a boyfriend or that's he's sitting across the table from Caleb.
"Your brother's told me a lot about you, but he failed to mention that you're fucking breathtaking." Caleb breathes a small laugh at the end. I smile politely, "Well thank you, Caleb. You're very kind."
"I know, right? That's what we all said when she came back." Mikey laughs from across the table in front of me.
"Well maybe you and I could go out sometime. Grab some coffee or something? What do you say?" Caleb smiles, throwing his arm around the back of my chair.
"Oh, I'll have to look at my schedule." I smile lightly, trying to get a subject change quickly before Luke reacts.
"That's French for no, pal." Luke laughs dryly before ordering a few drinks from the server. Oh no.
"Excuse me?" Caleb scoffs, turning his attention towards Luke. "You heard me." Luke shrugs his shoulders.
"Hey, why don't you stop being a dick, yeah?" Calum retorts to Luke.
"Stay out of it, Calum." Mikey warns him before taking a sip of his whiskey.
"No—he doesn't have to be a dick all the time." Calum rolls his eyes while Mason tries to keep him level headed.
"I'm not being a dick, Calum. I'm just letting the guy know that's a classic line every girl uses when they aren't interested." Luke laughs as our server sets a drink down in front of him, then one in front of me.
"Oh, I didn't order anything." I smile to her. She stares at me then back at Luke. "He ordered this for you." She says before setting drinks down in front of Daisy and Ashton. Luke takes a swig of his whiskey before setting it down on the table with a loud thud.
"So you like a good martini?" Caleb asks, trying to redirect the conversation.
"She does, but you wouldn't know that." Luke says in a monotone voice. Caleb turns his head back to Luke, "Seriously, what's your fucking problem dude?"
"You're my fucking problem, kid." Luke growls.
"Okay, what is going on?" Daisy asks frantically, looking back and forth between Luke and Caleb.
I turn my attention back to Luke, "Lu–just calm down, okay?"
"Oh my fuck," Luke mutters, downing the rest of his whiskey before slamming the glass on the table. I begin to shake nervously and Caleb takes notice.
Caleb cups my cheek with his hand, "Mere? Are you ok—"
"Don't fucking touch her." Luke growls, standing to his feet and leaning across the table.
"Luke, she's not your fucking girlfriend." Calum intervenes. Luke chuckles cynically before sitting back down and looking at me, "Think nows a good time to tell them, Merebear?"
I give Luke a warning look to shut the fuck up, but he ignores it completely.
"Tell us what?" Ashton asks, looking back and forth between Luke and I. Luke sits up and rests his elbows on the table, folding his hands in front of him before looking Ashton dead in the face.
"I'm dating your sister."
