Meredith's p.o.v

"I'm dating your sister." Luke says without any hesitation. My heart practically sinks in my chest, and I begin to prepare myself for the absolute worst.
The table falls silent–uncomfortably silent. I was shaking with fear and anxiety, and when Ashton turned and looked at me, it rose through the roof.
"You guys are dating?" Ashton asks, staring blankly at my face. He looked hurt—betrayed—with what Luke and I had done.
"Ash—"
"Answer the question, Meredith." Ashton demands.
"Yes." I admit quietly, tears beginning to well up in my eyes, threatening to spill over at any second, but I tried to hold them back. I had no one else to blame for this, so I have no reason to cry.
"Did you sleep together?" Ashton asks, staring at the table.
"I don't think we should—"
"Did you sleep together!" Ashton yells, slamming his fist on the table.
My bottom lip quivered lightly before I answered, "Yes."
"What a plot twist."
"Not now, Mikey." Calum smacks him on the back of the head. Ashton looks into my eyes and takes a deep, angry breath, "I had one rule—one rule, Meredith—and you couldn't even abide by that?" Ashton yells.
"But we were all kids when we made up that rule, Ash. It's different now—"
"Don't come at me with that bullshit." Ashton interrupts, throwing cash onto the table and standing up with Daisy.
"Ashton!" I yell as he makes his way out of the restaurant. I throw down a few bucks for my drink, but Luke reaches across the table and grabs my arm, "Mere—"
"Let go of me, Luke. I think you've caused enough fucking damage, yeah?" I spit, ripping my arm out of his grasp and running to the lobby of the restaurant and out the front door just as Ashton pulls out of the parking lot.
My heart was beating so rapidly. What have I done? This is exactly how I had pictured him reacting in my nightmares. How am I going to fix this now?
"Meredith?" Mason's voice chimes from behind me. I turn around, tears beginning to blind my vision. I let them fall as I stare back at Mason.
"Look at the mess of created, Mase."
"You didn't do anything wrong, Meredith." Mason coos, grabbing onto my hands.
"Yes I did—You heard Ashton—I broke the one and only rule he had." I bite my lip, letting the tears continue to fall as I choke out a few quiet sobs.
"You can't feel guilty for loving Luke and I won't let you. Everything will work itself out—including your relationship with Luke."
"I should have never listened to him, Mase. When he told me this would be our little secret, I should have said no and moved on."
"I think it was the best decision you've made."
"Nothing will be the same between Ashton and I."
"You don't know that. Maybe Daisy can talk some sense into him."
"It's not use–Ashton is stubborn and Luke deliberately did the one thing I begged him not to."
Mason sighs, "Calum and I are gonna head back to the house and try to talk to Ashton. You gonna be okay?" She asks as Calum steps behind her.
"Mere, I know it seems hopeless right now, but keep your head high for your Calpal, okay?" Calum says quietly before giving me a hug.
"I'll try." I sniffle, wiping my tears on the back of my hand. Mason gives me a hug next, "He'll come around, Mere." She says quietly before pulling away. Calum pulls her along to the car and they're gone in the blink of an eye while I'm left outside, alone with my thoughts and anxiety.
"Mere?" Luke asks from behind me. I turn around and face him as more tears fall down my cheeks.
I narrow my eyes at him, "Are you happy? Is this what you wanted, Luke? Cause you got it! Here's your show!"
"I didn't mean for any of this to—"
"Then why would you say anything in the first place? Ashton is never going to forgive me!"
"I don't know what I was thinking. That Caleb guy just—made me so angry."
"Caleb? You did this because you were jealous?"
Luke shrugs, "I–I guess so."
I shove Luke hard in the chest, "Get away from me—I'm going home."
"Baby, wait," Luke pauses, reaching for my hand. I yank my arm from his grip, "No—No more pet names, no more anything. We're over, Luke."
Luke instantly stops in his tracks, eyes locking with mine. His eyes began to gloss over quickly, "We're what?" Luke asks, eyebrows furrowing together as if he didn't hear me correctly.
"You heard me—we're over."
