Kalila's POV:
I lightly bit my lower lip because of anxiousness.
Iginala ko ang paningin ko sa paligid and I really can't help but admire the company itself.
"Shall we?", he asked as he opened the door.
"Have a seat. Please make yourself comfortable", sabi niya nang nakangiti habang papunta sa kanyang swivel chair.
Dahan-dahan akong naglakad papunta sa upuan sa harapan niya at umupo.
"How are you feeling? Mukha kang may kaaway kanina sa labas when you were alone", he said and chuckled.
Tinitignan niya pala ako kanina habang nakahalukipkip ako at nakapout!
"Ah. Wala po yun sir. May iniisip lang", sabi ko at ngumiti.
Kahit na nakakahiya ako kanina.. Kalma lang! Be confident pa rin!
ChAr.. Ayoko na talaga jusko!
"Don't worry. You're cute", he said and smiled.
"I'm sorry, we haven't formally introduce ourselves yet", sabi niya at dahan-dahang tumayo.
"I'm Lucas Rodriguez..", he said while offering his hand.
".. President and CEO of Rodriguez Land Corporation."
Engr. Lucas Rodriguez
President and Chief Executive OfficerShuta, oo nga!
Bakit di ko 'to nabasa agad ?!
I put my thoughts away and quickly acted normal. Hindi ako pwedeng magpanic.
"It's nice to meet you.. Sir Lucas Rodriguez", I said with an uneasy smile.
Ano 'to?!
We both took our seats and he proceeded with the interview.
"Judging by your age and the year that you took the license exam, napasa mo ang CPA exam ng first take. You even ranked 4th in the exam. That's good."
"Thank you Sir", I said and smiled a little.
After graduating, nagtrabaho na muna ako ng 2 years bago mag-enroll sa Review School of Accountancy or ReSA.
Tinanong niya rin if I'm currently employed and I said yes.
"You're very hard working, Ms. Cortez", he said as he smiled.
I nodded my head and gave a look of determination, "Of course sir. Working in this field has always been my passion and I can willingly give more than my 100% to contribute for the company's success."
He nodded his head, looking satisfied with my answer.
"Well, Ms. Kalila Cortez", he said and intertwined his fingers. "What job position are you exactly hoping for?"
"I was hoping for the position of management accountant sir", I said confidently.
"I see," he said while slowly nodding his head. "Then let me ask you a question."
"Okay sir. Go ahead po", I said politely.
"How do you build a good foundation with a friend?", he asked.
Shit.
That question caught me off guard.
I'm not really good with building a good foundation with friendships.
Worse... I destroy them.
Pero hindi pwedeng ganun. Hindi dapat palaging ganun. I made sure that I learn from my mistakes. Iniisip ko pa lang how I messed up with a person before that I truly love right now, lalo akong nagiging determinadong ayusin ang sarili ko.
"Building a good foundation with friendships doesn't necessarily mean being always in favor of one another. It does not always lead to sharing of smiles and laughter. It is about helping each other grow.. making decisions that makes the both of you better", I said with a faint smile.
"Until the time comes that one will be able to stand on his or her own feet.. with or without the other.
"I'm glad you said that", he smiled.
You build a good one by making sure that the both of you will grow into a better version of yourselves", he added.
"This company will be your friend.. your partner. There will be hardships and it won't always be victorious at the end of the day. Pero ang importante, tinutulungan niyo ang isa't isa", he said as he smiled.
I just nodded my head and smiled.
"Well, Ms. Cortez. Are you ready to build a good foundation with us?"
