Chapter 2
Louis POV
Today would be the 5th day that the girl had been in a coma. The boys and I found out her name was Layla and she was currently living with her father. One of the nurses was keeping us posted on her condition. I still felt really bad; I didn’t see her when she turned the corner on the bike. The police had questioned us, and when Layla woke up they would ask her if she wanted to press charges. I hope she would understand that it was an accident. The boys helped me pay for her medical bill, we didn’t know what type of family she came from, so we didn’t know if they could afford her medical bill. She had been in the same position since she got to the hospital. They wrapped her head with gauze, thankfully that was the only thing that was majorly damaged. She wasn’t hit that hard, therefore she broke no bones and had no internal bleeding.
I was drinking some milk Liam had brought up to me this morning. I was on my phone when I heard Layla moan. I looked up at my phone and saw her head moving.
“Layla! Layla my name is Louis. Please wake up.” I shook the hand that didn’t have an IV in it. A few seconds later her eyes opened, she blinked a couple of times before looking over at me.
“Louis Tomlinson?” she said sounding confused.
“Yes, yes it’s me. I’ll be right back; I’ll go get a nurse.” I jogged to the nurses’ station and told them that Layla Montgomery had woken up. One of the technicians came with me to the room and another paged her doctor.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” The nurse asked Layla, walking over to take her blood pressure.
“My head hurts.” She admitted, closing her eyes.
“Try to stay awake for me, can you do that?” The nurse asked. Layla nodded and opened her eyes.
“Ok, I’m going to ask you a few questions, and I want you to answer them. Can you do that?” Layla nodded and reached over to the nightstand to get a bottle of water. Zayn had brought it to me but I never touched it. When I saw that she couldn’t reach I walked over and handed it to her. She gave me a small smile and turned back to the nurse. The nurse was looking through a clipboard while Layla took a few sips of the water.
“Ok, do you remember your full name?” The nurse asked.
“Layla Annabelle Montgomery.”
“Ok good, when is your birthday?”
“August 25th.” Layla took another sip of her drink.
“Very good! How old are you?”
Layla rolled her eyes; the nurse was talking to her like she was a baby. “I’m 16, almost 17”
“Wow! This is really good that you are remembering! Do you know the date?”
“Uh, all I know is that it’s the end of June 2013.”
“It’s June 23rd, but you were super-duper close! Do you know why you are here?” Layla hesitated for a second before replying,
“I think I got hit… by a car?” I looked down at my feet, “Yea I’m sorry about that.” I said. Layla looked at me and started laughing.
“Why are you laughing?” I asked, confused.
“The fact that you, Louis Tomlinson, one of my idols hit me with a car is crazy. I’m dreaming right. Am I being punked? Was I drugged or something?” Layla asked looking at me and the nurse. I shook my head and her cheeks flushed.
“I was never a good driver.” I admitted. She opened then closed her mouth, not really knowing what to say.
“Ok, the doctor will be with you in a few minutes.” The nurse flashed Layla a smile and put a star sticker on her night gown, then walked out.
