Jane is talking about something very exciting. I can tell that because of how she's moving her body in the chair. I look at the cacti in the outside eating area getting drenched in the rain. I feel like them. Like the world is a rainforest and I'm a cactus. And each drop is a reminder that it doesn't want me.

Jane shakes me violently.

-Stop dramatizing your little inner monologue, Hannah. Listen to me. - I snap out of the moment I was having by myself and I look at Jane. - These are the last moments before adulthood. We will both finish Highschool, turn eighteen, go to higher education or get a job. We should be celebrating. - I nod, it's never really hit me, how everything I've been accustomed to is coming to an end. - Also, let's go look at the baby frogs!

.

The rest of the day goes by painfully slowly but by the end, because of Jane being herself around me, just a little bit of her good mood rubs off on me. We are walking outside to go to our spot in the hill and we see him.

-Hey! - He's smiling that warm smile like everything is fine. Like he hasn't ignored me for a whole day.

-Hello, Blake! Do you want to come with us we're going to up to the viewpoint? - I look at Jane angrily. Why would she invite him to come to our favorite spot?

-Sure. I was waiting for you two. I couldn't come to school today because I took a trip with my mom.

-You didn't take your phone with you? - I ask a bit harshly.

-Now that you mention it, I didn't, no. - He looks at me studying me. - Why? Are there some messages I should look at? I've got my phone on me now. Let's see. - I blush.

Even though there's nothing to be embarrassed about, because of the way he implied it, there seems to be something special about the message. I don't even remember exactly what I wrote anymore.

- "Hey. I think I have an idea for your supernatural problem." and a winky face. - The way he looks at me after reading the message makes my stomach flip. Jane joins in on the fun noticing how I'm reacting.

-A winky face? Is that what the kids are doing these days? - I laugh. At first to diverge the attention from myself but then I'm laughing for real and they join me.

We keep walking towards our destination. Blake elbows me.

-What was the idea that you had?

-Oh. We can talk about it when we get there.

.

At the top there are a bunch of new flowers and grass. As we overlook the town, we can see that there's also a lot more green in spots around everywhere.

-Wow, thank you for taking me here. This is fantastic. - Blake looks very happy and seeing him happy makes me feel happy too.

-Oh my god, they have little tails and everything. Thank you, Blake. - Jane is looking at the tadpoles that are swimming around in the puddle.

-Why are you thanking me? Oh right, the rain. No problem. - We settle down in our seats overlooking the town.

-Okay, so. I found this article online about how from what happened in other deserts that stopped being deserts and how now they are tropical. This could be the future of Deep town. If you kept making it rain, within reason, the place would get adjusted and it would thrive.

Blake looks around and then he's very thoughtful. I thought the idea would make him ecstatic but it did just the opposite.

-What are you thinking Blake? Did you change your mind? - Jane asks rubbing his back for comfort.

-I don't know. I haven't given it much thought but I think so. I visited my dad on this trip and it's been a real eye opener. I came today to tell you that I've decided I'm going to grow my own universe. And, I want you two to help me live a little before I do. - Jane and I smile at each other.

-It will be an honor. - Jane says. Blake looks at me.

-I'd love to help you fulfill your wish. - I make a pause. - As long as it's not too crazy.

We all laugh.

I want to keep my heart on a short leash but I think it's been set free.
