Mia's pov

"Boggi, I can't go to Mexico." I tell him.

"Why not? I bought you a ticket already."

He stands against the kitchen island sipping on a cup of coffee. I'm sat at the island a cup of tea placed before me.

"I can't just leave. I have to tell my dad."

"I thought you didn't care what your dad thought." He furrows his eyebrows.

"What Maria thought. Not my dad."

"Well then are you going to tell him?"

I hopped into Ivan's car, clipping the seatbelt in over me.

"Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" Boggi asks me through the rolled down window.

"Boggi, I'll be fine. I'll see you later."

"Okay..." He leans in to place a kiss on my lips.

I drive the long way to my house. All I could think about what was I going to say to my dad.

Only problem is, I don't know where to start.

I finally arrived. I pulled up on the side of the sidewalk.

I walk up to the front door. My dad's car was parked in the driveway so he should be home.

I knocked on the door three times.

I hear shuffling behind the door. The door then opens.

"Hi, dad."

He lets me in and we walk to the kitchen where he switches on the kettle.

"Tea?" He asks.

"Yes please."

"So how've you been?" My dad asks.

"I've been good, yeah. How about you?"

He shrugs, "I've been better."

I nod in understanding.

"Mia, where have you been?"

"I've been staying with Boggi..."

He huffs, "You've been staying with Boggi."

"Yes, he takes real good care of me-"

"What? And I don't?"

"Dad, you chose Maria over me. How do you expect me to feel?"

"I never chose her over you, I will never do such a thing, you are my daughter "

"Yet, you're protecting her. She hit me."

He goes silent and purses his lips.

I feel the lump in my throat and tears rim my eyes.

I stand up from the bar stool at the island.

"I'm leaving now. Don't wait up for me."

"Wait, where do you think you doing?"

"Some place where I feel I actually belong. A real family who looks after me."

I get up abruptly and walk upstairs to my bedroom.

Maria wasn't here, which I was glad for.  I was not in the mood for her.

I grabbed two more bags and threw most of my clothing in and essentials.

When I'm done I race down the stairs and found my dad in the same position.

"By the way, I'm going to Mexico for a few days. Goodbye, dad."

I leave without letting him say anything else.

The drive to my new home I had tears streaming down my face.

When I got home I sling the two duffle bags over each of my shoulders and walk up to the door, ringing the bell.

Ivan opens it and his smile then fades when he sees my red puffy face.

"Mia...Are you okay?"

A smile slowly raises onto my lips, "I'm much better now."

***

I'm curled up in the sofa in my pajama's next to Ivan who's watching some random tv show.

I looked up out through the windows and saw Boggi and Emilio working out on the grass as the sun set.

"You know the test I bought?" I ask Ivan.

"Yeah, what about it?"

"So I took it."

He's now looking at, having his full attention.

"And?"

"It came back negative."

He smiles at me, "Well that's a good thing right?"

"Yeah it is...But I ain't gonna get my hopes up. I've heard that taking more than two is more accurate than one."

"I guess so...But I don't think you are."

"I guess..."
