Toni Topaz POV
"Toni, do you want to try to calm down?! You will end up breaking this dog in half."
"Veronica, don't say what I should or shouldn't do with him. When they say that having a dog is easier than a child, sometimes they doubt it. Maybe it's just me, but I started to think seriously about the reasons that led me to bring Yoshi from my parents' house."
Veronica was murmuring for the thousandth time in my ear as we went up to Foster Dr towards my street, Hayes.
The rain decided to give a slight respite, but my soaked clothes and smeared makeup indicated that my hunt had taken place when the storm started.
I didn't know what I would do about my dog, I wanted to arrest him for a week as a punishment for running away.
When we reached number 6455 and Yoshi recognized the house itself, he started to cry.
"Toni, let him go."
"For this bastard to run away again?! Look at my condition, Veronica! I had to cancel a dinner to chase this dog for three blocks. Do you realize that?! Three damn blocks! Fuck! I don't know how I didn't break that shit."
"Of course I have, I had to run after you!"
She stepped up to stand side by side with me and let out a loud laugh.
"Come on, a rain shower doesn't hurt anyone."
"Not a rain shower, but a storm with the right to lightning, yeah! I don't know what happened to that dog, he was never a runner, especially when it's raining."
I went through the entrance gate and released Yoshi, who ran under the roof of the door to protect himself from the rain.
I took the key out of the bag and started cursing even louder when I noticed the small puddle of water that had formed inside, making my cell phone float.
I opened the door anyway and ran out into the kitchen, throwing the phone into the rice pot.
"What are you doing?"
"Praying it works, I can't run out of a cell phone right now, Veronica."
"Look, if I were you, I would put a few dollars on the card to buy a new cell phone, I never saw this experience work. Go for me."
"I'm not going for you, stop being negative. Come on, lend me your cellphone for a minute."
"For what?"
"I need to call Cheryl and tell her that I won't be able to go to dinner."
I took the soaked dress off my body with great difficulty and threw it into the washing machine.
"Do yourself a favor? Take Yoshi and throw him in the bathtub, I'm going to give him a bath."
"You know he'll try to bite me, don't you?"
"Nothing is going to happen. Come on, I'll meet you there."
"Okay, mission time impossible."
Veronica left her cell phone on the kitchen counter and started a chase, dodging by a few inches to knock over some chairs in the dining room.
"Come here, you hairy plague!"
After explaining myself to Cheryl and bathing a demonized Yoshi, I sat in the living room with Veronica to talk about trivial things.
The rain started to rain again and we decided to have a wine while we decided on the songs for the European tour.
It was not difficult to be comfortable with her, just as it was easy to be uncomfortable.
