*This Chapter Includes Fighting and Mention of Blood/Death*
Shuichi POV~
Wow, he sure is fast considering his height. I tried my best to catch up with the purple haired boy skipping down the hall. He looked so energetic when he skipped like that, his hair bouncing every which way so calmly, his coat tails swinging in between his legs with every skip, his checkered scarf near coming undone. Yet, he looks so... cute. "Here Saihara-Chan!" He waved from the library door as I approached him out of breath. "Why... how do you move so fast??" I panted, half crouching with both hands on my knees. "I drank a couple of grape pantas before I came, so I'm super amped up!" Aren't you always... "Come on let's get your dumb book or whatever!" "Yeah..."I quietly trailed behind Kokichi as he admired the place. And honestly, I was admiring it too. The smell of pine, the aesthetic look of the rotted wood, and 1940 looking style made my heart feel full. This is somewhere I wanted to be. "Woooow, I haven't been here since we found Gonta dead!" And Kokichi ruined it. Now all I could think about was that horrid smell of rusty blood, and Gonta's body sprawled out on the floor in a puddle of it. I shivered as the thought hovered over me. "Ooooo look at this!" Kokichi exclaimed, "They even have comic books!" He darted towards a shelf and quickly pulled out a comic, a little too quickly. The shelf shook a bit as my eyes moved to the top of the bookshelf where a clock sat, shaking in its place. "Ouma-Kun you need to be-" I cut my sentence short as I saw the clock begin to roll over the side from the corner of my eye, heading right where Kokichi was standing, his full attention on the comic. "Ouma!!" I shot forward and grabbed onto his pale, skinny wrist, pulling him back into my chest. The clock slammed to the floor with a loud Bang and broke into a hundred pieces. We both just stared at the broken clock all over the floor, until Kokichi lifted his head and meet my eyes. I felt my breathing slow as I looked into his soft violet eyes. Everything felt so slow at that moment, even my heart began to beat slower. His pale face looked so soft and even, with just a bit of Rosy blush on his cheeks. Even the dark circles under his eyes made them sparkle a little more. "Oh, Saihara-Chan~" Kokichi was the first to break the silence between us "My hero!" I hadn't even noticed how close I was holding him to me, but I instinctively let go. "Jeez Ouma-Kun!" I took a few steps back, distancing myself from him "You really need to be more careful!" Kokichi giggled "Oh, I did that just so you would save me nishehehe" "Liar" I muttered under my breath as I advanced to the mystery section.
I ran my fingers along the shelves looking through the letters "I... J...K!" I stopped on K and looked around the shelve. "Oh! Found it!" "Found what?" Kokichi appeared behind me out of thin air, peering over my shoulder. "Ah! Oh uh, here..." I dusted the book off and carefully put pulled it off the shelf and flipped the cover open to show him. "The Kempton Killer?" He read out loud. His nose scrunched as he pulled back, a weird look on his face. "W-what is it?" I got immediately nervous. "You're reading books about murder while we are in a game purely fixating on killing each other?" Kokichi's reaction seemed genuine, which surprised me. "Well, my talent is being a detective... it's just what I do..." "Hmm... that's weird Saihara-Chan." Kokichi started to walk towards a chair and promptly sat down, comic book in hand. "I'm starting to think you enjoy this game!"
I stopped. "What did you say?" I looked up from my opened book, glaring at him. He didn't bother to look up at me. "What I'm saying is I bet you enjoy all this! I mean if your ultimate talent is solving murders this must be like extracurricular practice for you!" I just stood there. Kokichi continued reading his comic, and I just stared at him. I felt my face getting hot as I clenched my fist. I let my book drop to the ground with a thud, and Kokichi finally looked up at me. I started to walk towards him, radiating anger. "S-Saihara? Why are yo-" before he could finish I violently grabbed him by his checked scarf and pulled him up from his chair. "Argh-!" The comic book fell out of his hand as he grabbed at my wrist, I held him up to my face and he began to stand on his tiptoes. "HOW THE HELL CAN YOU SAY THAT?!" I screamed at him, spitting a bit. "YOU THINK I WANT THIS?! ANY OF THIS??" I was so furious I could feel my heart racing, and Kokichi just looked at me, horrified. "Saihara-Chan, I didn't mea-" I pulled him up closer to me, almost tearing his scarf "ah-!" "THIS IS A NIGHTMARE! PEOPLE ARE DYING ALL AROUND ME AND YOU THINK I ENJOY THIS?!" Kokichi shivered, still tightly grasping at my wrist. His eyes were so wide and shocked, I had never seen him like this before. That's when I saw it in his eyes...
