Thwack.
The zombie closest to Kyoutani dropped, then Kyoutani himself fell. Or, what was left of him, for lack of a better phrase. Oikawa looked around frantically for the source of the sound, and his eyes did not fail him. A grey-haired boy made his way to them.
It's Mr. Refreshing. Sugawara, If I recall.
"Are you guys okay?" He shouted.
Oikawa stared at Kyoutani's remains.
"...no."
"Okay, well, we gotta get moving, so hurry up. Anyone with you?"
"Y-yes..."
"Okay, well Daichi, Kiyoko, and Asahi are gonna take care of that and I'm gonna get you two back, alright?"
"Okay..."
He was crying. It had probably gone unnoticed by Sugawara, but Oikawa still felt a little embarrassed. The grey-haired boy grabbed him by the hand and they both sprinted towards the parking lot. A loud crack made him jump. "Sorry," Suga shouted, "The airsoft guns are a little loud!" Oikawa nodded and kept running. He had a cousin who played in tournaments with those things. They were indeed loud.
Many bullets later, they were safe in a possibly stolen car. "Did you steal this?" Oikawa asked. It looked very expensive. "The owner is probably dead," Suga said, "And don't go near those front wires. You could get shocked."
"Did you hotwire this?"
"Maybe."
"Wow. You're like the badass survivalist of Karasuno high."
"That's a badass way of putting it."
"Not wrong there."
Suga seemed to notice how nervous Oikawa was, because he put a hand on the brunette's shoulder and whispered, "Listen. Daichi, Asahi, and Kiyoko can handle themselves well, and we always have room for a few more back at the gym." The two setters looked into each other's eyes and Oikawa nodded stiffly.
"Kageyama-kun, I'm bored!!"
"Shut up boke, so am I!"
"Guys, the third years are back!"
Everyone rushed to the tiny window of the gym and watched as one, two, three, four, and...more?
"They brought some people with them?"
"Who?"
"Hey! It's the Great King!"
"Oikawa-san what?"
"It's the Great King's team!"
"Shut up Hinata! Lemme see!"
It was indeed Oikawa, and what was left of his team, running to the gym with the third years. They made their way inside and the remnants of Seijoh introduced themselves. Not that they needed it. The team greeted them happily, as there was more than enough food to go around, so much, in fact, that the third years had decided to go to the convenience store and use all the food there before they cracked open the rest of the stockpile in the club room.
Kageyama was silent.
Eventually everyone began making their way into groups. The Karasuno first years and the Aoba Joshai second years huddled together, and Oikawa and Iwaizumi joined with the Karasuno second and third years. As they talked, Hinata noticed Kageyama being a little more quiet than usual.
"I'm gonna go to the bathroom." He said.
"I'll come with!" Hinata hurriedly added.
"Be careful, you guys!" Sugawara called out from the mass of third years.
As they made their way across the field and into the bathrooms, Hinata locked the door behind them.
"Okay," he said, "Spill."
"W-what? What do I have to spill? I'm not hiding anything from you."
Despite his impressive academic stupidity, Hinata had excellent emotional intelligence. He could tell Kageyama was lying.
"Okay then, why don't you tell me why you're so quiet then?"
"I didn't have anything to say."
"I made multiple snappy remarks and you didn't tell me to shut up once!"
"Okay, fine! Something is wrong."
"Okay. Mind telling me?"
"It's just...Oikawa-san."
Even with his emotional intelligence, Hinata was still an academic idiot for a reason.
"The Great King?!"
"Yes, Oikawa-san!" He's just...he's just always kinda been there, one step ahead of me, and he- he just stands there, looking all smug at me like he's better than me and he knows it! And- and I know it's stupid, but I can't seem to let these feelings go."
Hinata stared at him worriedly.
"What do you mean that's stupid? Everyone has their grudges. All of those emotions are perfectly fine to feel! I wouldn't be lying if I said I felt some of those feelings myself!"
Kageyama looked up at him and Hinata realized he had been crying.
"Really?"
"Of course!"
"...okay."
They walked out of the bathroom together. They were almost back to the gym when-
"Wait," Hinata said, "I actually had to use the bathroom!"
