"I've already told you, Ava, I have no idea when they'll get back" Malcom rolled his eyes as her as they walked towards where the crops were.
"I know but—"
"Ava!" he snapped and turned to her, "It's been a day. Go do your job" he told her and walked away.
Ava bit her nails nervously but tried too shake off her worry as she went to the shed, picking up her tools and joined in with Dylan Isaac who were reinforcing the walls.
"You really care about him, huh?" Dylan flicked some of his blond hair out of his face.
"Well I—shush" she threw a nail at him and started building in a wooden board over another.
"Have you guys seen Paige lately?" Isaac asked and stood up from the ground, brushing the dirt off his knees.
"No, I think she's still heartbroken. She fell hard" Dylan joked.
"No. It's been a while. Somethings up with her" Ava threw her hammer on the floor and placed both hands on her hips, "When was the last time you saw her?" she asked them.
"Uh... I don't think she's left the hut in a while. Check there?" Isaac picked up the hammer and started using it.
"Cover for me?" she asked as they both stuck their thumbs up. She smiled before running into the hut, "Paige?" she called out but there was no response.
She closed the door behind her and slowly walked towards Paige's bed, she had definitely been there, it was messy and untidy.
She looked to the bathroom, "Paige" she called out again this time less of a question. She knocked on the door but there was silence. She pulled out her knife and opened the door.
Her eyes scanned the room, Paige lay with her legs out in front of her, she looked like she hadn't slept in days. "Paige...? You okay?" she asked.
"Ava" she mumbled as she crouched down next to the girl.
"What's wrong with you?" she asked in a concerned and sad tone.
"What do you think?" she turned her wrist and showed her a small bite. Ava's eyes widened as she stared at her.
"No—when?" she breathed heavily.
"When we helped Edward. You need to go" she tried to push Ava away form her lifeless body but was unsuccessful.
"No. Let me help you" Ava pleaded with her.
Paige scoffed, "There's nothing you can do. I'm already dead. Dying slowly with every minute and soon I'll be tearing you apart" she coughed heavily.
"Paige, I'm so sorry. What can I do, let me help you" she tried to plead with her.
"You wanna help?" she said and grabbed Ava's hand where the knife was being held and Ava looked at her in disbelief.
"No. You can't ask me to do this" Ava took back her hand.
"You have to. I don't want to be one of them and I don't want to hurt you" she ordered and grabbed her wrists as Ava looked at her ocean blue eyes.
Paige was so pale, red veins were brought to the surface of her face as the corners of her eyes went pitch black.
"They'll never forgive me" Ava whispered as Paige placed a hand on her cheek.
"Promise me. That you won't let me turn... ugh... and that you'll never let go of him" she whispered as tears poured out of Ava's eyes and streamed down her cheeks.
Ava kissed the top of Paige's head as she felt fear run through her body, she gripped onto the knife as Paige's eyes slowly closed. "I'm so sorry" she cried and raised the knife in the air, she drove it into her head.
