Ava looked in the rear-view mirror at the scar on the side of her head, she reached the gates but parked out of site. She grabbed her pole and shoved it into the holder on her back, she crouched down and waited for an opening. She watched one of the men walk away for a moment while the other had their back to her.
She crept up behind him and stood up, she grabbed him by the head and twisted his neck, hearing the bones break as she stared at his lifeless body. She recognized him, he was one of the men who dragged her to the back of the truck that day when the community was over run, and she was taken to Davis.
She didn't bother finishing the job, for all she cared he could become one of the dead and maybe she'd be able to kill him all over again.
Ava couched behind one of the trucks and looked around, she came here to find the guy who shot her, but her plans changed when she saw him.
Davis walked with a few other people and they seemed to be enjoying his company. Rage built up inside her as she eyed him and followed him with her eyes. He went into the same building they kept Justin in, she followed him and managed to sneak inside.
She heard him go up the stairs and into another room, she pulled out her weapon and gripped it tighter than ever. She climbed up the stairs and headed for the room he had disappeared into, but she stopped when someone grabbed the arm she had the pole in and punched her in the gut.
They were about to punch her in the face, but she blocked their attack and grabbed their fist, twisting it and throwing them against the wall on their front, holding their arm behind their back and raising up to bring the pain.
She could barely see because of the dim lighting, she was about to turn the figure around, but they kicked her back and wen tot punch her again, she blocked it with her arm, they went to attack the other side as she used the same technique. She punched them in the chest as they were back up once again.
She gripped her pole and went to swing it at the person, but they used a large knife to block it. She kicked the figure in the face, but they seemed unharmed by it and gripped her by the shirt, they stood up and knocked the pole out of her hands. They grabbed both her wrists in one hand and held it above her head then pointing the knife to her neck.
The lights suddenly brightened up and that's when Ava's eyes widened, red hair, bright blue eyes, freckles, and a brand-new scar down his cheek.
"Eddie...?" she choked out as his hardened expression began to soften. He dropped the knife and reached behind him, grabbing a bottle of water, and wetting his hands, washing the blood off her face.
He saw those same beautiful hazel eyes and he knew it was her, "Ava" he sighed and slowly set her down, she looked up to him and placed both hands on his cheeks.
"I don't under—we watched you get swarmed..." she gasped as he moved his hands to her waist.
"They told me they killed you" he whispered and that was all Ava needed to let the tears run down her cheeks.
She couldn't hold back anymore and pulled his lips into hers; she had almost forgotten the feeling of kissing him. Tears poured out of their eyes as she placed her hands on his shoulders. He lifted up her small frame and she instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist, her back pressing up against the wall.
They pulled away with their foreheads still touching and that was when rattling from the door Davis had went through started.
Ed looked back to her and carried her to another room, shoving her inside and slamming the door behind him, "Edward wait!" she tried to yell but the door was already shut.
She pressed her ear to the door and listened to their conversation, "I heard voices and thumping, everything okay?" she heard Davis say and it took everything inside her to not open this door and drive her pole into his—
"Shit!" she cursed when she realized it was still out there.
"Oh, sorry. Sleep walking again" Edward lied.
"Is that's so. Okay, well then you'll have no problem explaining to me why, this, is here" Davis held up Ava's pole as Ed stared wide eyed.
"I swear, I have no idea how that got here, maybe she left it here when she took Ju—" there was a loud thud and the sound of a body dropping to the ground followed.
Ava jumped back from the door and looked around; she spotted a knife on the kitchen counter. She hid behind the door as it slowly opened.
A tall figure emerged and the closed behind him, she yelled and held the knife up high ready to stab Davis in the head. The man spun round and grabbed her wrist just in time as they fell back.
"We need to stop trying to kill each other" Ed chuckled and looked at Ava beneath him.
"Less talking" she whispered and lifted her head up to meet his lips half way in a kiss.
Ed relaxed slowly, for he first time in four years he finally felt like he could let his guard down for one second. He placed a hand at the back of her neck and sat up slowly, they broke apart and pressed their forehead together, "I love you" he whispered, and Ava paused.
She didn't say anything and just connected their lips again and pushed him back against the floor.
