"What do you mean she's gone!?" Justin yelled at Luke.
"The truck was gone when I woke up and she 's not in her bed" Luke explained again.
Sam jumped off of the couch and ran to them, "She's back!" he yelled, and Justin ran past him and to the door as we threw it open, the hinges creaked heavily but he didn't care.
Ava jumped out of the truck and jumped into his arms, wrapping her arms and legs around him, "I'm sorry Justin. But I think you're gonna forgive me" she whispered, and he set her down.
He looked to the passenger side of the truck as the door slammed shut and Ed stepped forward, they stared at each to her as Justin walked forward with anger plastered on his face. He looked like he was going to hit him but instead he just grabbed his arm and brought him into a tight hug, "You fucker" he held onto him tighter.
"Wow, hello clean face Ava" Sam laughed and hugged her, Ava froze unexpectedly.
"You have three seconds to detach yourself form me. One, two" she started, and Sam quickly jumped back.
Justin and Ed finally pulled part and walked over to the other three, Ed tried to snake his arms round Ava's waist, but she moved away before her could and stood next to Justin.
"So what do we do now?" Luke asked them.
"We're running low on water; I can go out and get some" Justin offered but Ava shook her head.
"No I'll go, you need to rest" she ordered.
"Says the girl who just came back form a long trip and brought a dude back from the dead" Luke muttered under his breath.
"I'll go with her, keep her safe" Ed reassured Justin who looked worried.
Justin nodded, "Okay, but be safe" he hugged Ava again and kissed the top of her head, "Don't do that to me again, okay?" he whispered, and she nodded.
Ava climbed back into the driver's seat and started the engine, Ed followed her lead and climbed in as well, shoving on his seat belt as Ava did the same.
They drove for ten minutes before pulling into a diner, they both jumped out of the car and just as they did shots were fired in their direction, they ducked behind the truck and waited for the gunfire to stop.
"Stay back, or I'll kill you!" a man yelled from inside.
"You can try old man!" Ava yelled back as he started firing again.
When it stopped she knew he was reloading, and she gripped onto her weapon tightly running into the diner and whacking him over the face with the pole as he dropped the gun. Ed followed her inside and stood behind her.
"What was that about killing us?" she walked close to him and stood over him, the pointy end of the pole hovering above him.
"I'm sorry, just take what you want, I'll go" he pleaded with her.
She looked down at where one of the bullets skimmed her leg and ripped her jeans open, "These are my only pair" she glared at him.
"No! NO! WAIT!" he yelled but she drove the pole into his neck and pulled it out gain, then again in his head.
She stepped over his body and picked up his gun and the ammo box, "Ava, what the hell?" Edward stared at the dead man on the ground.
"He tried to kill us, unlike him I succeeded" she moved to the back of the room where a stash of water lay.
"That's not the point, the old Ava would never—" she cut him off.
"The old Ava is gone. She died when she thought you did too" she said through gritted teeth as their faces remained inches apart.
"What happened to you?" he sighed, and she just rolled her eyes.
"You know what happened after I though you were dead, I died. I killed so many people, even the ones who still had a heartbeat. Because if I hadn't they would've killed me. I had to kill Malcom, and I spent the last five moths searching for Justin" she walked away from him but turned around again, "And I spent the last four years thinking you were dead" she spat and grabbed as much water as she could carry and walked out.
Ava ran into the house, "MALCOM?! JUSTIN?!" she yelled and dropped the crate of supplies. She looked around and saw nothing but emptiness. Her eyes landed on Malcom who was laying on the ground with two bullet holes in his chest.
"No, no, no, no. Hey! Malcom! HEY!" she tried to shake him awake but her didn't respond. She leaned down and listened to his breathing, nothing.
She sat back and felt like her entire body was overflowing and that she was about to explode completely. She pulled out her knife form her boot and stared at it then at Malcom, "I'm sorry" she cried and drove it into his skull.
She dropped the knife on the ground and looked down at her shaking hands, "Justin!" she yelled and stood up weakly, she looked at the blood on the ground and then as the 'D' written in blood on the wall. She knew what it meant.
Her blood boiled as she grabbed a backpack and packed everything she needed, she looked back at Malcom one last time before looking away and leaving the house. She had no emotion on her face at all, she was just empty.
Every day, she explored different areas and tried to find out where Davis was and where he was keeping Justin. Day by day her hands continue to get soaked in the blood of any DR's she ran into or people who tried to kill her or stand in her way.
She was walking in the woods, she ran out of food and water last night, she was beginning to think that the 'D' on the wall was just a coincidence and that Justin was dead.
"Davis says we can head back, not much left in this section" she heard a voice say and she ducked behind a tree.
"You checked the gas station right?" another voice spoke up and she looked back out to see two boys, probably eighteen, standing there.
They continued to talk about raiding gas stations, and she knew what she need to do, she snapped a twig and then crept away in the opposite direction. "Hello?" one of them called as she snuck up behind them.
"Hi"
