"How is she?" Sam asked Justin as he walked out of the room Ava was resting in.

"The bullet went straight through, so she's gonna be okay. But she keeps going on about how she saw Edward back there. It's impossible because he died four years ago, I saw it, we all saw it" he folded his arms over his chest and walked to the kitchen, grabbing one of the multiple cans of food.

"Ever consider that maybe she isn't lying?" Luke asked and sat down at the table.

"There's nothing to consider, he's dead. This is just another one of her damn episodes again, probably just the stress of being in the same place as Davis" he snapped and started making the food for everyone.

"Can I go talk to her?" Sam asked.

"Kid, I barely know you, and thank you for helping her find me. But you are part of that damn community so how am I suppose dot know you're not gonna go in there and kill her?" Justin served up the food and poured it into four bowls.

"Never mind" Sam muttered and sat next to his friend.

Ava laid on her back, staring up at the ceiling. No matter how much she wanted to believe Ed was alive and that that man back there was him, it was just impossible. She closed her eyes and tried to remember what he looked like, he just looked so much like her Edward. He had those same piercing blue eyes, he had ginger hair except the man's hair was shaved at the sides and shorter at the top, she knew Ed loved his hair and that there was no way in hell he'd cut it. Then there was the fact that he shot her, if it was him he would've recognized her.

Though she was covered in blood and she had gone through some changes in the past four years, mentally and physically.

Her head started to hurt form thinking about it too much and just going round in circles. She waited for the sun to set and then listened to see if everyone was asleep. She needed answers and she knew Justin wasn't going to let her go, not when he just got her back.

She saw Sam and Luke asleep on the floor and then her eyes landed on Justin sleeping peacefully on the couch. She stood over him and smiled, she bent down and placed a soft kiss on his forehead, "I'm sorry" she whispered.

She looked in the mirror, there was small smudges of blood on her forehead and cheeks. She tied her hair back and stared at her reflection slightly longer. She needed answers.

She took the keys to the truck and climbed inside, she glanced at the metal pole on the passenger seat. "We do what we have to, to survive" she muttered to herself when her eyes landed on the blood on it.

She started the truck and began driving away.

"Okay, keep straight and make sure not to push down to hard on the acceleration pedal" Justin told the eighteen-year-old, Ava relaxed on the pedal, changing gears, and speeding up.

"Nice" Justin nodded his head at the exchange as they drove faster and faster in the car.

"Maybe slow down slightly, Ava" Malcom spoke up from the backseat as he held on for dear life.

Ava and Justin laughed at his comment as she sped up even more, "Okay, ease up as we turn" Justin told her and slowly stopped laughing.

"Ava, ease up" he sat up straight and looked at the panicking Ava.

"I—I can't the brake it's not—" she pushed harder on the break as they all braced themselves.

The car crashed into the metal barrier on the side of the road, flipping it over and landing upside down.

Ava's eye slowly opened, and she looked around, she must've gone through the windshield as she looked back to the car. She tried to move but stopped when she glanced down at her leg, dislocated knee. She cried out in pain and felt blood trickling down the side of her head.

She crawled forward and used the car to help stand herself up, she cried and clenched her jaw at the pain. She took a dep breath, gripping onto her leg and closing her eyes, she twisted her leg and listened to the click of it going back into place. She fell to the floor and gripped onto the grass as she tried to regain her breath.

She stood up and grabbed her wooden pole form the middle of the road, just as she did she saw a group of DR's running at her from at least one hundred meters away and they were coming fast.

She panicked and went to Justin's side of the car, she saw him unconscious as she threw open the door and took of his seat belt. She cried out in pain as she dragged him into the road and analyzed him, he was still breathing but she couldn't wake him up.

"Justin! HEY!" she slapped his cheeks, but he remained unconscious. She looked back to the DR's as they started getting closer and closer.

She opened the backseat door and saw Malcom lying on the ground, she used all her strength to pull him out and lay him next to Justin. They were both still alive as she looked back to the car. She searched for her bag, she found it and rummaged through it until her eyes landed on the matches. She grabbed the spare gasoline and made a trial of it form the car to a line across the road.

She moved Justin and Malcom further back, the Dead Runners were gonna cross that line in a matter of seconds, she lit the match and threw it there. It lit up immediately and trailed to the car she backed up slowly as they ran across the line, just in time for the fire to reach the car and ignite an explosion.

All the DR's were flung up in the air and burned, she glared at the dead on the floor and crouched beside one that was still alive but crawling toward her, "Fuck you" she spat and drove the wooden pole into its head.
