Two weeks, Ava had been on her own and right now, she felt sick, she was lying on her side in the truck, holding her stomach to try and stop the pain in her stomach and ribs. She had eaten some food but once she was finished, the pain started and made her how she is at this very moment.

"Hello?" she heard someone say and she stopped her groaning and bit her lip, "Whoever's there, come out" they repeated, and she recognized the voice.

Before Ava could move Kiana was at the window pointing a gun at her, "Wow, I did break you" she chuckled, "Get out" she told Ava.

Ava ignored her request, Kiana just opened the car door and threw Ava out, she skid briefly across the gravel and scratched her arm, small spots of blood appearing but her biggest concern was the growing pain in her ribs.

Kiana kicked her in the leg, turning her over on her back, she straddled Ava. She pointed the gun to Ava's forehead and grabbed her by her chin, "Do you know what you've taken from me?" Kiana said through gritted teeth and clenched her jaw tighter.

"She was all I had left, and you took her form me!" she yelled, anger pulsing through her veins with every word. "Zayne said I couldn't kill you" she loaded the gun and pointed it further into Ava's head, "But he's not here" she told her.

Ava finally felt the weight lift off of her when the gunshot went off, like everything bad in her life was fixed by the bullet. All her wrongs, all the people she had murdered, she was finally on their level and received what she deserved. To be killed by someone with such hate toward her.

Ava's heavenly welcome was interrupted when she blinked and looked up to see Kiana holding her shoulder in pain, she rolled off of Ava and she let out a loud gasp. She turn on her side and cough blood onto the ground, getting a view of what was happening.

Zayne was on top of Kiana, wresting her for the gun, "Kiana! Snap out of it!" he yelled; his voice muffled though due to the ringing in Ava's ears.

She saw a knife on the ground next to her and reached out for it, struggling to get a grip of it until another gunshot went off. Ava could no longer feel the pain in her ribs but rather in her heart when she watched Zayne stop struggling and hold his chest.

"ZAYNE!?" Ava cried out as both a question for reassurance that he was okay and as a cry knowing that he wasn't.

She grabbed the knife and threw it at Kiana who was now standing over him, the knife went straight into her neck, Kiana panicked at the sharp feeling and gaged, blood spewing out if her mouth. She fell to her knees and took the knife out, holding the place where it had previously been but couldn't stop the flow of blood pouring from it.

Ava crawled on the ground to Zayne's side, she ignored the now dead Kiana and grabbed the gun, shooting her in the head quickly and looked down at Zayne, she moved both her hands to his chest, trying to ignore the pain in her ribs as best she could.

"Zayne? Zayne hold on" she told him and watched him cough up blood as it trickled down his chin.

His eyes met hers and he smiled, he knew he was going to die. He had managed to leave the community and go after Ava; he knew what he wanted and for once he actually felt like he loved someone other than himself. He had hoped to find her and tell her everything, tell her it was going to be okay. That they could do this if they tried hard enough... together. But now that felt like it was lost, the thing he craved was drifting away slowly.

He placed a hand on her cheek and pulled her down, he closed his eyes and immediately pressed his lips against hers when she was close enough. If he were to die, this would be the final thing he did, and he was happy that it was.

Ava wanted to pull away and try and stop the bleeding, but the urge to kiss him back was too much. She hadn't felt anything for anyone, not since Edward. And even though she barely knew Zayne, the fact that she may never get the chance to do this was eating her alive.

She moved her hands form his chest to his hair and gripped onto it, tears falling from her eyes and onto his cheeks, Zayne could feel himself starting to cry as well. The fear of death was scaring him, leaving Ava was terrifying.

Ava pulled away and wiped the tears form his cheek using her thumb, "You're right. I was scared to let you get close... because I was afraid of this happening" she sobbed, what she was afraid of was actually happening and there was nothing she could do.

"You're so... crazy" he laughed, and she chuckled a bit, moving her hands to his cheeks.

"Why don't you ever leave me alone" she smiled, and he returned the smile. Their moment was interrupted when he squeezed his eyes shut and started coughing, more blood falling of his mouth as he let out a deep sigh and his head fell back onto the ground.

Ava let out a weak cry and looked away when she squeezed the trigger on the gun that was pointed at his head. She realized they had made enough noise to attract a bunch of DR's their way. She stood up and ran to the back of the truck, rummaging through the med kit she had just in case and wrapped a bandage round her chest, getting rid of some of the pain.

She reached for the baseball bat in the back and her heart stopped, Ed had a bat. She shook her thought away and turned to the woods just as a DR threw itself at her she knocked it to the ground, she stomped on its head before moving forward with a limp.

Another one of the dead ran to her and she just dropped the bat, it threw a punch to her jaw wildly and she stumbled back, ultimately kicking it in the leg and punching it to the ground. A sudden burst of rage built up inside her, she clenched her fist and glared at the oncoming Dead Runners.

She ran to one of them and ducked down in time to hit it in the stomach and use it's arm as leverage, allowing her to throw it over her shoulder. She snapped it's neck and shot it in the head, he eyes darted to another coming her way and she pulled the trigger and watched the bullet fly into its skull.

Ava loaded the gun and pointed it at another coming her way, it clicked, signaling she was out of ammo. She threw the gun at it's head and it tripped, falling at her feet as she grabbed a rock and bashed it against its head.

She stood up and held her side, it was a throbbing with pain but that didn't bother her, she was in clear. Ava ran back to the truck and started the engine, getting out of there as fast as possible and not looking back.
