FORBIDDEN FEELINGS

Chapter 5- Settling In

In the common room, everyone is telling me the ins and outs of this magical school. Surprisingly, I am quite excited for this adventure, at least I don't have to deal with my dad anymore. Hermione and Ginny tell me all about the teachers and how I should look out for Professor Snape as he hates us Gryffindors. Hermione and I leave the others and she gives me some of her textbooks from the first year, so I can catch up if I want to... i probably won't.   

The next morning, we leave the Main Hall after our delicious breakfast to then arrive at our first lesson which is Potions with Snape. He lets us in the class and sorts us into seats. Malfoy gets put at the back with the girl with the bob, who I found out her name is Pansy Parkinson. I also found out his mates are called Gregory Goyle and Vincent Crabbe. They all think they're so cool at the back of the class. I hope I didn't look that stupid in the Muggle world. I'm sat by Harry, and Ron is sat by Hermione.

We're learning different potions but everything's going in one ear and coming out the other. We're not even allowed to speak in this class because Snape's got really good hearing and takes house points off people who talk. But every now and then Harry gives me a little smile and I smile back.

The bell rings and we all make our way to the next lesson which is the History of Magic.

Our core lessons are Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, History of magic, Defence against the dark arts, Astronomy and Herbology.

The two I picked to also do are Care of magical creatures and Muggle Studies- I know I'm going to pass that one.

The rest of the day is pretty chilled. People are more behaved than the students from my Muggle school. At lunch, everyone just stays at their tables and goes off in groups. The last lesson of the day is Muggle Studies and to my surprise, I'm sat next to Malfoy. Brilliant.

He doesn't understand anything about Muggles, so I offer to help him. "No. Why would I want help from you?" he snaps at me. 

"Because I was at a Muggle school before this, so I obviously know a lot about them," I answer back.

"That's nothing to be proud of."

"Alright, just trying to help."

He rolls his eyes and puts his head in his palms. This lesson is kind of a drag. After lesson, I meet up with Seamus and Neville in the courtyard.

"Hey guys!" I shout and they seem happy to see me.

"How was your first day?" Seamus asks.

"Not too bad, bit boring."

We have a really nice conversation and I can see Malfoy talking to Pansy and Blaise. I can see Pansy flirting and it's really obvious that she likes him. Malfoy's eyes turn to my direction and we make slight eye contact and I look away immediately. I say bye to Seamus and Neville, and head to the Gryffindor common room where pretty much everyone is.
