It's near the end of November. Malfoy's been attention seeking ever since the accident. It's so annoying. He looks pretty cute with his sling on though. Wait, did I really just say that?
It's Sunday night and all the Gryffindor third years are chilling in the common room. "I'm so bored. What should we do?" Neville complains. I look around and see that there's probably an even number of girls and boys so I decide this is the perfect time for... "Spin the bottle!" I shout and everyone stares at me.
"No!" Hermione yells causing everyone to ask what it is. I explain the game, and everyone seems up for it apart from Hermione. Ron persuades her to play but she still looks moody.
The game seems to be going well as we've seen many kisses. Neville kisses a girl and she looks disgusted, but he seems pretty happy, bless him. It's Harry's turn. The room goes silent. He spins the water bottle in the middle of the room. And of course, it just has to land on me. Everyone is looking at me. I start to sweat. "I have a boyfriend though" I shout.
"You're the one who wanted to play this" Hermione yells at me. How cheeky of her. But I nod and accept the kiss from Harry. It isn't a long one. It's just a peck. But I don't feel as guilty for this than when Malfoy touched my thigh. What? That doesn't make any sense.
It's Ron's turn. I really hope he lands on Hermione. He spins the bottle. The tension in the room rises and suddenly the bottle stops on a blonde haired girl who I've never seen before. I look at Hermione who seems disappointed. Ron crawls over to the girl and they have a snog. "I'm going to bed" Hermione says, standing to her feet. "Hermione, wait!" Ron shouts as she runs up the stairs and we hear a door slam.
There is an awkward silence. "Was that because of me?" Ron asks, worriedly.
"I'll go and check on her" I say, standing up. "On that note, I think we should all go to bed" Seamus says, and everyone agrees.
When I get back to the dorm, Hermione's in bed and tells me not to bother her. I wish she would tell me what's wrong. I'm guessing it's because she likes Ron, but I know she would never admit that.
It's the next morning and we all make our way to the Great Hall. As I'm eating my breakfast, people are looking at me and whispering. What is happening?
"Last night was weird, wasn't it?" Harry says to break the silence between the group.
"Yes, very" Hermione mutters.
There's another silence. Harry smiles at me across the table. I hope that kiss didn't mean anything to him, because it definitely didn't mean anything to me.
Throughout the day, people have just been staring at me and whispering. I'm so confused. Has Malfoy made a rumour about me? I hope not.
In last period I have Muggle Studies with Malfoy and as I sit down, he asks "Enjoyed your kiss with Potter last night?" My heart drops.
"Wait, is that why everyone's staring at me?"
"Obviously"
"How did you find out?"
"Everyone's talking about it"
"It was only a peck"
"Does this make you boyfriend and girlfriend now?" he questions in a jealous tone.
"No. Of course not. There were no feelings involved"
"Then why did you do it?"
"Because we were playing spin the bottle. Have you ever heard of that game?"
"Of course I have. I'm not that stupid"
I sigh and start doing the work. At the end of the lesson he whispers "Tutoring's starting again on the 7th December, you better turn up" he pushes me as he leaves the room.
