Chapter 27- The Rumour

For the past week I've been avoiding Malfoy at all costs. Who knows when he's going to get revenge on me? I don't really see him that much, but when I do it's when he's flirting with that stupid Pansy girl. What's so special about her? Are they dating? Or is he just doing it to make me jealous? Because it's not working.

It's Monday morning and Dumbledore interrupts our breakfast to announce that Mohoseph Malfoy has won a trophy for receiving the highest score ever on his N.E.W.T Christmas mocks. I look over at Draco Malfoy and he rolls his eyes and I can hear him say "Give me a break". Shouldn't he be proud of his brothers success?

We've all finished breakfast and we're waiting for the bell to ring so we can go to Potions. I can feel Malfoy staring at me, so I decide to give him a taste of his own medicine by "flirting" with Harry. I start laughing at everything Harry says and I even nudge him playfully, he looks confused. I rest my head on his shoulder which causes his arm to wrap around me. Ron says, "Crikey you two, get in there Harry". We both laugh and I look over at Malfoy to see his reaction. He stands up. What's he doing? He smirks.

"Oooo. Potter's got a girlfriend!" he shouts, pointing at us. Every single person in this hall stares at me and Harry. I release from him, quickly. Some people are laughing, whispering, catcalling and Fred and George are singing 'Love is in the air'

"We're not dating" I yell in anger.

"Quiet!" Dumbledore raises his voice, but clearly not loud enough as the crowd is still talking.

"Oh yes, forgot to mention that Carter is a liar" Malfoy spits and everyone laughs. I HATE THIS BOY. I HATE HIM. I HATE HIM SO MUCH. Why is this the way he gets revenge? It's so petty and childish. The bell rings and we're holding eye contact. I lower my eyebrows and he is smirking, clearly proud of what he's done. People are patting him on the back as if he's just won a bloody award for being the funniest lad alive. But honey, I'm not laughing. You think you're so cool and funny but in reality, you're a scrawny, greasy, lanky pussy who deserves nothing. I hope bad things happen to him. Like really, extremely bad things. Malfoy struts off with his mates trailing behind him. He doesn't deserve mates.

"Are you okay, Jessa?" Hermione asks.

I stare at her, and Ron says "Of course she's okay, she's dating THE Harry Potter"

"No. No I'm not. We're not dating. I'm sorry Harry. We're just friends. I'm fed up of Malfoy assuming this stupid rumour that I'm either a slut or dating you. They're both incorrect" I scream, storming out the room and pushing everyone out the way. I've had enough of Malfoy.

As I walk into Potions, I see Malfoy sitting there with a smug look on his face. I could punch him so hard right now. I'm even considering kicking him in the balls again. I wouldn't feel as guilty this time. I sit down next to Harry, brilliant, just the person I want to sit by right now. I'd actually rather sit next to Pansy because then I wouldn't be told I'm dating someone I'm not. At this point, Malfoy would probably tell the whole school that me and Pansy are a thing. And he calls me a liar. Unbelievable.

Snape gives us a quick test but it's really hard. There are only ten questions, but I struggle on each one. Well I kind of get them a bit as I remember when Malfoy taught it to me. Ugh why does he have to be smart? I'm the first one to finish so Snape quickly marks it using his wand and says "Interesting. You seem to have gotten 8 answers correct out of ten. I can observe that Draco's tutoring sessions have been useful"

I look over at Malfoy and he is smirking so much right now. I hate that his ego is so high. "Well actually, I've been getting extra help from Hermione" I lie as I glance at Hermione who looks confused "I've quit tutoring with Malfoy because I don't learn anything with him"
