"What do you want to know?"
Everyone gathered around the dining table. Kiera and Elijah were seated near the top on the right side of the table. Beside them was Zack and his mate Gabrielle. Alec was right next to them with Jake and Chloe sitting right across on the left side of the table. Sam and Ella were next with yours truly seated right at the top of the table. This angle was perfect as I had a full view of everyone.
It was almost 6PM by now and I was determined to find out as much information as I could before I left tonight. Nobody knew about my plan to leave and I wanted to keep it that way. The last thing I needed was for them to try to stop me. It was the right decision, not just for me but for everyone.
"Everything, start from the beginning and dont leave out a single detail" I spoke up. The room went quiet as the boys debated as to who would speak up. Looking around I couldn't help but notice Seth wasn't here. Typical. He has been so distant lately and I was beginning to worry. I just hope he hasn't gotten himself into any trouble.
"You already know the story of how our parents met" Jake began. I nodded my head slightly giving him the silent answer yes and allowing him to continue.
"Our mother was previously married to our biological father, Peter. He was a member of the kings guards and our mother was a witch who was in hiding" he continued. Everyone remained silent as he spoke. I watched as Keira and Elijah both listened intently. Unlike myself, they weren't fully informed of all the information.
"Why was she in hiding?" I asked. I knew about my mother being a witch but I thought she gave up practising magic. Was she hiding from her coven?
After a moment, Jake continued. "Our mother had an older sister, her name was Ester. Their mother, our grandmother, was the leader of the most powerful coven of white witches, the Cromwell coven. Growing up, Ester wanted to become the next leader. She was always jealous of our mother. Unlike Ester our mother was beautiful both inside and out. The other witches praised her for her kindness and her beauty. Ester was a beautiful women too but her personality betrayed her. She was cold hearted, only cared about herself. She craved power more then anything. She believed that if she became the leader, the other witches would follow her, bend at her will, do whatever she pleaded. But that wasn't how things worked"
My mother had a sister? I have an aunt? Why didn't anyone tell me this?
"Why was I the only one who didn't know about Ester?" The anger was clear in my voice.
"Because we were trying to protect you. You'll understand if you shut up and listen" Zack said a little more rudely then he intended which made his mate give him a look that could kill.
"Zackery" she yelled out. With a guilty look, he mouthed a sorry to me and gave Gabrielle a quick peck on the lips. She was still mad at his attitude but I found it amusing. I don't take things like that to heart, their my brothers after all.
"The rules of the coven were simple. No practice of black magic. No human must know of the supernatural existence. Protection of the humans from other creatures that may be a threat to them was number one priority. No member of the coven can interact with the dark witches or else they would be banished permanently from the coven. But the one rule Ester was unaware of what that all future leaders must be chosen by vote by the other members of the coven. As expected, our mother was the chosen one. She was only 16 years old at time. She was so happy that the other witches trusted her enough to make her their leader but she was also scared. She knew how much Ester wanted it and she felt like she betrayed her"
"Ester was angry at both the coven and her sister for their actions. She decided that if she couldn't become leader, she didn't want to be a part of the coven any longer. But instead of leaving, she sought out revenge. She sided with the dark witches and decided to join them instead. She wanted to destroy the coven but most of all, her sister. The dark witches started a war. With both Esters knowledge of the coven and the power of black magic, they were able to kill almost every white witch. But only one survived"
