After hanging up from the call Chase was back to his walk of sadness up to Jake's Mountain.
He was making good progress until he reached the base of the mountain. He realized it probably would've been best to bring his police cruiser because this was gonna be quite the hike to make before night hit. Although, it wasn't completely his fault. If he had gotten into his pup house and transformed it into the cruiser, the pups would've heard him for sure.
"I think I made the right decision" Chase says thinking about the pups that had said those cruel words about him.
As he continues his strenuous journey, his sadness has slowly changed to a feeling of betrayal and finally, anger.
"How could they say those thing?!" The Shepherd said to himself. "I've done so much for them and I only do these things because I care! If something happens to them on my watch then it's on me!"
The pup continues his anger self rant until a thought brings the sadness back to him.
"I can't believe even Skye felt that way. I really thought she cared and understood my stress of being second in command" the pup says in a depressed tone. "I never thought such a small pup would be the one to hurt me the most".
The Shepherd had a really big crush on the cockapoo. He may still even have one but that was the last thing on his mind. I mean how could he like someone that would say those types of things about him.
"Am I really wrong for this?" The pup says to himself as he continues his cruel journey to a place he feels loved: alone
As the pup tracks his way up the mountain he realizes just how tough his journey is gonna be. Not only was it a long way up the mountain but he had forgotten the biggest obstacle he would face; the icy cold, snow weather. The Shepherd was aware of the fact that he'd surely freeze if he continued this trip through the night but he was so numbed by the depressed thoughts coursing through his mind that he didn't care. So he continues his hike up the brisk mountains.
"I'm sure I can make some kind of make shift house out of something up there" Chase thinks. "But that's an issue for after I make it there"
After, he finishes his thought process he picks up the pace and makes his way up the mountain with his annoying partner; sadness.
At the Mission
The pups had just finished saving Callie. Rocky had taken on the roll of driving Chase's police cruiser as it had very similar controls as his recycling truck. He, however had to manually take out Chase's cones due to the fact that the cruiser was voice activated.
Skye had used her wings to fly down and grab Callie before the cat had a chance of falling. She returned her to Katie and received cheers from the other pups and Ryder.
"Thank you so much Paw Patrol!" Katie says gleefully as she hugs her frazzled kitten. "And thank you Skye for getting her from down there" she says as she gives sky a tummy rub, much to the cockapoo's pleasure.
"No problem Katie, whenever you're in trouble just yelp for help" Ryder says with a smile which quickly disappears. "Now if you'll excuse us, the pups and I need to have a talk about Chase" The boy says.
Katie gives a confused look concerning Ryder's more serious tone.
"Is something wrong? He seemed fine when he came to my shop earlier?" The girl informs.
"Well...I'm not sure what's up but Chase didn't show up for the mission, and he looked like he had been crying AND on top of that he quit the team" Ryder explains.
Katie gasps in shock.
"WHAT?! Chase?! He would never do something like that!" Katie says in a startled way. "What could possibly drive him to do something that extreme?"
"Well, he wouldn't tell me what happened but he did tell me to ask the pups so that's my only clue. I'm gonna have a talk with all of them when we get back" the boy explains in a stressed saddened manner.
Katie puts a hand on his shoulder.
"Well, if you need anything just make the call and I'll be there" Katie says with a smile.
That lifted Ryder'a spirits a bit.
"Thanks, Katie I definitely will" the boy says.
"Alright, good, well bye Ryder, by pups. Good luck." The girl says as she waves them goodbye as she watches them depart back.
Back with Chase
The Shepherd was nearing the summit as the sun had set. He could still feel his way around but it was clear that he was surrounded by darkness. Even worse, it was freezing and Chase did not have much protection besides his uniform and fur.
"I-I-I did not think this through" Chase says while shivering from the brisk weather and cool breeze.
He could feel his paws getting numb to the snow below him. He knew he couldn't go on forever. He was nearing his collapsing point. Was it really over for him? Was Chase gonna leave the world feeling cold and unloved?
The pup was basically blinded by the cold at this point until his eyes could make out a brown wooden structure. Was it a cabin? Wait, it was! It was Everest's and Jake's cabin.
"I-I-I- don't know if I c-c- can make it" Chase says as he inches slowly towards the cabin.
He could feel the life leaving his body. He uses the last bit of strength he has and throws himself at the door before passing out from the cold temperature.
The door opens up and an appalled Husky looks down at the almost lifeless body of her police teammate.
"CHASE!" She yells.
