Chase Runs Away

The Talk and the Comfort

The pups had arrived back at the lookout as it had just struck midnight. Rocky returned Chase's pup house back to its original spot while the other pups were inside and filled with guilt. Ryder had went upstairs to get out of his uniform.

Normally the pups would be tired at this point but the dread of the talk they were about to endure had given them a big adrenaline rush filled with artificial energy. They truly didn't mean much harm but they never thought that the Shepherd would catch them.

"I-I feel so bad about this" Skye says with her head down. "I n-n-never wanted him to feel like he needed to leave. We love him" The cockapoo said as tears formed in her eyes.

"I can't believe you of all people would say those things about him. Seems pretty out of character" Rocky says to the cockapoo.

Skye shoots a glare at the Mixed breed.

"I only joined in because I thought we were getting things off of our chest. I didn't even say much. I didn't even start that secret meeting" She says with a scoff.

"He seemed really upset though" Marshall says. "He looked like he was just about to cry. I felt really bad about that, I mean of course we love him. I never thought he'd think otherwise" The Dalmatian says with his head down.

"Well I guess it does look bad considewing we kind of had a secwet meeting cwiticizing him like it was an emewgency " Zuma says. "I feel bad too I just... hated that megaphone" The Lab adds.

"We probably should've just brought it up with him though, I mean he would've understood. He's still our friend and he loves and worries about us all of the time" Rubble says with guilt.

This made something go off in Skye's head.

"Oh my gosh!" The cockapoo shouts startling everyone. "He did everything he could to protect us and was just following orders because he had to and he loves us and we just said all of those mean things to him behind his back" Skye realizes. "No wonder he was crushed"

The pups went quiet to the cockapoo's response.

"I-I- I can't believe I-" Skye starts but is unable to finish as she starts crying.

The other pups try to comfort her but truth be told they felt just as bad.

At this moment Ryder comes back downstairs, ready to start the talk but stops in his tracks when he sees the pups comforting a crying Skye.

"Skye? What's wrong? What happened?" The boy asks in concern.

Skye looks up in teary eyes.

"Ryder, I-i-I'm such a terrible pup" Skye says in distraught.

Ryder looks at the other pups in confusion.

"What are you talking about?" The boy asks.

Marshall walks forwards slowly to explain to Ryder the whole situation.

"Ok Ryder, the truth is, the pups and I had a secret meeting behind the lookout about Chase and his leadership, seriousness-"

"And his megaphone" Zuma adds but still in shame.

Marshall gives a the Lab a strange look then continues.

"And Chase apparently heard us while we were talking" Marshall finishes explaining.

The boy looked so surprised at hearing this happening with his good pups.

"Ok, that's a subject we're about to tackle but why does Skye look so much more distressed than the rest of you?" Ryder asks .
