Lies Behind

NAKAMASID lamang si Freed sa batang babaeng nag-aayos ng mga leggo pieces na kanilang kinalat pagdating nito. Mula kanina ay hindi sila nag-usap at pinagmasdan niya lang ang bata habang naglalaro ng kanyang mga laruan.

Nagulat naman si Freed nang biglang tumayo ito at binuksan ang pintuan. Kaagad naman siyang sinalubong ng butler na nakabantay. "Gusto ko na po umuwi," ani ng bata.

Napayuko si Freed at napatingin sa mga laruang nakakalat sa sahig. Mukhang hindi pa rin pala sapat ang mga bagong laruang pinabili niya para makipagalaro sa kanya ang bagong batang dinala ni butler Lee.

"Sir Freed, paumanhin pero gusto na raw po ng batang umuwi," nilapitan naman ni Lee si Freed na nakayuko lang.

Hindi naman sumagot si Freed at nagpunta lamang sa veranda.

Lee escorted the kid outside when her mother is waiting for her.

Araw-araw na may batang pinapapasok si Lee sa mansion upang magsilbing kalaro ni Freed. These kids are being paid but no one seemed to be consistently coming.

At the age of ten, Freed seemed to have lost his will to speak. It's not that he is muted permanently but something must be stopping him from talking. Lee—their family butler has been bothered by him so he tried getting kids play with him but Freed doesn't seem to have regained his will to talk.

"I will bring another one tomorrow, don't worry..." nang makabalik si Lee sa kuwarto ni Freed ay nilapitan niya ito na nakamasid lamang sa ibaba habang palakad palabas ang bata kasama ang nanay nito.

"Having friend is really good right? So I hope you will talk soon so you can have as many friends as you want..." lumuhod si Lee upang magkapantay sila ni Freed. Nakatungo lang naman ito at napakurap.

Naagaw naman ang kanilang atensyon sa sasakyan sa ibaba na bagong dating lang. Freed stared down only to see his mother getting out from the car with another man. Hindi naman inaasahan ni Lee na makikipaghalikan ang kanyang mommy sa lalaking lumabas sa kotse at nakita ni Freed iyon. Pinatalikod niya ang bata at ngumiti. "Why don't we fix your toys first?" he suggested. Freed walked back inside his room and just as Lee said he started fixing his toys.

IT WAS late in the evening when Freed went to the kitchen to look for milk at the fridge. He was assisted by the maids and after having his midnight snack, he headed straight to the stairs so he may sleep. As he walked to the hallway leading to his room, he halted when he heard an audible sound from the other hallway. He tried to take some steps closer to the direction where he heard that sound.

Habang palapit si Freed ay nakaakrinig siya ng sigaw ng isang babae. It was then he figured out that it is his Father's room. He tried to analyze the voice that is coming from the room. He was sure that it wasn't her mother's.

He tried to open the door a bit and peek. He saw a strange woman on top of his father as they both scream.

He carefully closed the door and head back to the hallway to his room. When he reached his room, he saw the giant glass doors opened that are leading the way to his veranda. He walked outside and stared at the sky while the wind because rough.

Freed grew up with his maids and butlers. He doesn't even remember when was the last time one of his parent's came to his room nor asked him about something even if it is useless. Even as a growing kid, he never experienced the life of being a normal kid because he was always stuck here. He was told that he is an important person and that people might take advantage of him or kidnap him for a ransom. He was almost kidnapped when he was five, and it happened again when he was eight years old.
