Corey sat on the sofa, he was kind of grumpy to be honest, as he stroked Joey's cat. His birthday had left him with a sour taste in his mouth, and Joey had practically ignored him since then.
Corey knew what Joey wanted. He wanted an apology for corey ruining the day only, corey had told Joey from the start he didnt want to.
Joey walked in with a box, his nose in the air as his hair brushed against his back. He dropped it on the floor and opened it.
"What is it?" Corey asked
Joey ignored him as he pulled out a sting of lights.
Corey frowned, oh no, Christmas decorations...
Shit.
Corey hated christmas too, he was a grinch. It was a little similar to why he didnt like his birthday much but the capitalism also got up his nose.
Corey wouldnt say anything. It wasnt his place, plus he kind of wasnt ready to return to the streets yet.
Joey stood on a chair as he started putting up lights. Still not paying any attention to Corey.
Corey sighed sadly, Joey ignoring him was bumming him out.
He got up with Joey's cat and walked out, to the spare room.
He felt shit.
Really fucking shit.
He didnt know what he did wrong, surely joey was being unreasonable? Corey was overwhelmed with guilt but he couldnt tell why? He was adamant that him not wanting to celebrate a dumb birthday wasnt a crime.
Yet joey was treating him like he had committed one.
He wouldn't even eat with corey.
Corey stroked the cat sadly, would Joey ever even speak to him after this? He guessed not.
He considered just going for it. Just killing himself off.
He hated the fact these thoughts swirled around his head.
But they weren't the only ones.
No.
He rolled his eyes as the thoughts grew and he tried to distract himself. He didnt want to think about it.
He looked around the room trying to find something to take his mind off of it.
Until his eyes landed on the small porcelain cat statue on the desk he hadnt quite noticed before.
The exact same statue as that kids mother used to own, the same cat statue which she kept in the basement, that same exact basement where...oh no.
He felt his brain screaming.
That kid turned it around when he did what he did. He made sure the cat didnt see what evil crime he committed.
No!
He put his hands against his ears as he tried to block out the sound of that voice...
His voice.
That kids.
Oh God, the mocking, the torture, the insults, the compliments, the pet names, every single word. All of it.
He didnt want to think about it but how else was he ment to keep safe?
He crouched over in pain on the bed as he hit his head on the mattress.
All he could hear was that kid saying his name over and over and over again.
