Corey tossed and turned before his eyes snapped open, no he couldnt be there, he had to get out. He almost screamed as he was met with fire.

"Happy birthday!!" Joey yelled smiling like an absolute dork.

"Uhh..." corey blinked, half scared to death as he hadnt even quite woken up yet.

"Well, blow them out." Joey rolled his eyes softly

Corey complied.

Joey put the cake down "you okay?"

"Wasnt quite expecting that if I'm honest." Corey said sitting up.

"Well duh, it was a surprise." Joey said

"I see that but uh, damm." Corey shook his head.

"You okay?" Joey asked again

Corey shrugged

"I dont know what that means." Joey frowned

"Dont worry." Corey shook his head

"You can talk to me Corey." Joey said simply

Corey let out a long sigh "it's my birthday."

"Well yeah." Joey said "that's why I got you cake. Oh wait stay there."

"No..its-"

Joey walked out the room quickly as corey looked at the cake.

He hated his birthday, he wanted to forget about it and pretend it didnt exist.

He looked at Joey's unneat hand writing on the top, happy birthday corey, it read. Corey frowned, he didnt want all this. He wanted to fade away into the background. Hopefully joey would leave it at just a cake.

Joey ran back in with something in his hand. "For you." He smiled

Corey blinked "what is it?"

"Its a present. Duh?" Joey said handing it to him.

"No! Joey no! I cant take this. You took me shopping just the other day it's not-"

"Its your birthday its completely different now open it." Joey said

Corey sighed as he opened the wrapping paper and looked down.

"You got this...for me?" Corey said holding it up.

Joey chuckled and nodded.

"For me?" Corey blinked at it.

"Who else?"

Corey smiled softly, at the spider man comic collection, brand new and all there.

"This must have cost you a fortune..."

"Eh, not really." Joey smiled "oh and I got this for you too." Joey said handing corey a smaller present.

"I cant take it-"

"Please." Joey begged

Corey complied and unwrapped it, two things sat in the present. He picked up another Metallica CD, he had always wanted the black album, It would taunt him in shop windows. And underneath a green snakeskin notebook and a pen.

"This...wow Joey...thank you." Corey said

"Happy birthday." Joey smiled

Corey nodded "I guess so."

"Anyway, come with me."

Corey frowned again, more surprises? He hoped not. Joey wouldnt. Theres not much more to a birthday.
