I'm laying on Draco's bed. I've been avoiding it but I got a message that I'm going back to school. I guess I didn't realize how long summer was until the notices for school were sent. They pushed opening school cause of Dumbledore's death and the new clemency, headmaster. I clear my throat and prepare for the unwanted conversation.
"Draco?" He hums and looks my way. "I've been told I'm going back to school."
"What? No, you're not."
"I wish I wasn't either."
"No," Draco says sitting up. "I'm serious. You're not going."
I shake my head, "It's not your choice." Draco climbs up the bed and puts his hands on my hips. He puts both legs on each side of me and pulls me so I'm laying under him.
"Says who?"
I laugh but it's only a breath out my nose, "Says my guardian. Something which you are not." With Draco looking down at me I suddenly get a little shy.
"I've heard how Snape plans to run things and you're not going."
"But my-"
"No," he says. "Tell them it's too dangerous. For all I care you could just drop out without them knowing."
"Draco."
"I'm serious."
"No your not," I shake my head. "You care too much for me to get into trouble, yes?"
"No."
"Yes?" I push.
He rolls his eyes and nods. "So what?"
"So you're gonna let me go. If not-" Draco cuts me off again.
"If not what? You're gonna be away from me and I don't like that. That's means I can't protect you-"
"I can protect myself," I intervene.
"Let me finish, please." I nod. "I can't protect you. I can't see you all the time. I can't get you into trouble." We share a smile. "Okay that ones not a good example," Draco laughs. "I want to be where you are cause I go crazy without you."
"Are you sure I don't just drive you crazy when I'm around?" I joke.
"No," Draco's face is straight. "Can't we just talk? Have a serious conversation with me." Draco asks, his voice above a whisper.
"I-. I'm sorry." Draco moves so he's sat beside me. I sit up too. "Lets talk, but I'm not good at serious." Draco nods.
"Why do you want to go to school? If you didn't want to you wouldn't be."
"It's not that I want to go, I just have to. Your parents are practically making you stay home, and if you didn't want to go you wouldn't. You're Draco Malfoy, you can almost do anything you want."
"You know that's not true."
"Isn't it?" I push.
Draco goes quiet. I'm not completely right but he knows what I'm getting at. He's cunning enough to always get his way, is he not?
"My parents aren't making me because they know what Snapes doing. He's plans to brain wash and torture kids."
"Draco," I scold.
"I'm only worried about you. He's evil and hates kids."
"I guess you could say that," I agree. "But I don't think he's really that evil."
"You know what he's done," Draco states. I nod. "Listen, I'll say it again. I don't want you going."
"I know," I say. "I know. Can't you warp back and forth? Watch over me that way?"
"I-I don't know."
"You can stay in my common with me," I suggest.
"And get caught and in trouble?" I bite my tongue from any smart remarks. "It's too risky."
"Maybe we can just meet at the field."
Draco thinks for a moment, "Maybe." He smiles, it's small, and closes his eyes. "I miss sitting in the field with you. Seeing you as you watch the castle, the stars, all of it. Your skin glowing in the moonlight."
I smile as well. "Someone's soft."
"Oh shut it," Draco keeps his smile. "If you do go I will talk to my mother, or even Snape myself. I won't let anything happen to you. But," Draco tucks a piece of hair behind my ear, "you can't be getting into trouble. Just do as your told and behave please."
I move the piece of hair back to normal. I nod, "You've got my worried now. I'm sorta scared."
"Don't be. You'll be alright. And if anything happens tell me and I'll get you out of there."
