(3rd Person POV)
Rose petals floated away from Ruby as she rushed over to the grave. She finished her walk up to it with her hands clasped together, her hood up.
She lowered her hood down, smiling downward, but with a sad air around it.
Ruby: Hey, mom.
She looked down at the inscription: "Summer Rose – Thus Kindly I Scatter".
Ruby: Sorry I haven't come by in a while. Things have been... Well, things have been pretty busy. Oh, Dad's here, too! He's, uh, you know... Dad.
She shrugged, conceding the point.
Ruby: He's still teaching at Signal. But he told me that he's going to be on some mission soon. I think he misses adventuring with you.
She looked forlornly at the grave.
Ruby: I miss you too.
She paused as if waiting for a response.
Ruby: Haven't gotten kicked out of Beacon yet! So that's cool. I think being on a team with Yang helps. Keep her in line... That was a joke. She's actually a really great fighter! You can tell she's learned a lot from Dad! Oh, so are Weiss and Blake. Oh! They're my teammates! Together, we form Team RWBY!
She said this was pride, it was easy to tell how much she wanted to impress her mother.
Ruby: And yes, before you ask, that does cause a lot of confusion. Anyways, I made a bunch of new friends, and then I met some... let's just say, uh, odd teachers. Oh! We've also stopped some bad guys, too! I guess it's like they say: "like mother, like daughter"! I still wonder why Ozpin let me into the school early. But uh, I guess he'll tell me one day. You know how he is. It's funny, the more I get to know him, the more he's starting to sound like Uncle Qrow.
A bark alerted her to the ever-adorable Zwei and the sight of her father, Taiyang Xiao Long, in the trees behind her.
Ruby: Oh! Looks like Dad's back! I gotta go! He's dropping me off at Beacon for the tournament match before he goes on his next mission. Wish me luck!
She put the hood back on and started to walk away, but turned and delivered one final message to her mother.
Ruby: It was good to talk.
Ruby turned, surprised to see Edel standing there.
The rumors had spread that he had figured out how to escape, and had done so. He was still the people of Atlas' hero. He was such a philanthropist, that he now was one of the least wealthy higher class people. His power didn't lie in money, but in influence.
However, Ironwood had come out with a speech. He said they let him leave, but had him under tight surveillance. The second he did something wrong, the military would be on him.
Ruby was startled, and didn't say anything as he walked to her, and then stopped as the two were in line with each other, looking in opposite directions.
Edel: If you ever need me, call my name Little Rose.
Ruby looked to him, surprised at his words.
Edel: I meant what I said at Mountain Glenn.
With that he walked past her, as Ruby turned to look at him. He sat down on the ledge, legs hanging over as he sat there, taking it all in.
(Your POV)
You sat with Team JNPR, watching on as Team RWBY fought another team from one of the schools. You didn't hear the other team, you got here late when you were trying to track Edel down.
