I feel like this one shot has a bit of a different writing style, but whatever. I think it's ok. Please tell me what you guys think!

"Narita-san, I like you!"

The entire classroom goes silent, which make the already quite loud declaration even louder. Narita stiffens in his desk, trying to decide whether to keep staring at the floor, or look up and meet the gaze of the girl that just confessed to him in front of everybody.

He can feel Ennoshita's own solid gaze prodding at the side of his head from a few seats over, and he fights the urge to look up and blow a raspberry at his friend out of spite. He knew what he needed to do, he wasn't an idiot.

After a few more moments of awkward silence, as Narita gathered his wits and the rest of the class shuffled past the girl still stood in front of his desk, her upper half bowed so lowly her hair had fallen into her face, he finally managed to look up at her.

He recognized her as Hagakure Akemi, who sat a few seats behind him and to his right. She was considered one of the more beautiful girls of class four, with her long flowing black hair, large, soft blue eyes, and paler skin. Boys were head over heels for her, and girls either wanted to be exactly like her or hated her entire existence.

"Ah," he mumbled. "Ha-Hagakure-san?"

She straightened quickly at the sound of his voice, her back rigid, and her confession letter clutched tightly in one hand. Her entire face was flushed a bright pink from embarrassment,  eyebrows pinched together and mouth curled into a tiny frown.

"P-Please feel free to call me, Akemi, Narita-san!" She held out the letter with stiff arms. "Please accept my feelings!"

Narita's eyes widened, his brain once again completely shutting down for a moment to process the words Hagakure had practically yelled at him. He opened his mouth slightly, but no words came out, and he was left to sit there, gawking like a fish.

Luckily for him, Ennoshita was never really one to allow him to act like a fool.

"Excuse me, Hagakure-san."

In true Ennoshita Chikara fashion, he shimmies his way through the desks, his gait confident. The look on his face is familiar, that fine line between "I got only five hours of sleep in total this week" and  "I'm too mentally drained to deal with your bullshit."

Narita just wasn't sure if the look was directed at him or at Hagakure.

Hagakure's gaze immediately snaps up to Ennoshita, and her eyes narrow. Narita's motor functions still seem to be malfunctioning, so he's left to just continue to gape like an idiot. Thankfully, Ennoshita brings up a hand, his actions swift and calculated, and quite literally knocks Narita's jaw closed with a hollow noise that makes him cringe inwardly and outwardly.

Ennoshita offers her a tight lipped smile in response to her mini glare, one that Narita recognizes as the one he often uses when he attempts to reign in Tanaka and Nishinoya. This girl was about to get such a scolding that her parents would be surprised.

Ennoshita continues. "Narita and I will have to go soon, we have volleyball practice in a few minutes. I'm sure Kinoshita will be very excited to see us both."

He nudges Narita's shoulder with his forearm. "Right, Narita?"

Narita blinks, then startles, his knees slamming into the bottom of the desk before he's scrambling to get out of the wretched thing. Hagakure herself jumps back with a yelp of surprise, her letter still clutched tightly in her hands.

He looks her, and finally manages to make his mouth move.

"I'm sorry, Hagakure-san. But Ennoshita is right, we really must be going. Coach, captain, and Kinoshita will kill us if we're late."

He doesn't miss the way Ennoshita's dark eyes sparkle mischievously while Hagakure's own eyes widen in shocked understanding as she realized that she was just indirectly rejected. Narita doesn't even hesitate as hurries past her, his bag hanging precariously from his shoulder. Ennoshita is quick to follow him.

"Wait!" Hagakure called, her voice desperate. "Are you not even going to consider me? Who is Kinoshita? How is he more important that me?"

Narita didn't bother turning around as he opened the classroom door and dashed out. "He's my boyfriend!" He called. "My very possessive boyfriend!"

Several moments later, Ennoshita's deep, methodical laughter could be heard even all the way down the hall.
