"Hinata..."

The words are whispered, warm breath tickling gently against the shell of his ear. Hinata squirms a bit from the feeling, his mouth morphing into a small smile. Kageyama's arms are tight around his middle, but the warm, cozy feeling that Kageyama's body provided while against his own was much too powerful to ignore.

He opens his eyes, if with some difficulty, and is greeted by the faded cream colored wall of the hideout. The sun peeks through the window from behind the drawn curtains, its gentle rays bathing the entire room in a soft golden light. He yawns, stretching his arms and legs as much as he can in Kageyama's hold.

"Kageyama..." he mumbles as he blinks the sleep from his eyes. "Are you awake...?"

He sighs knowingly a moment later when he receives no answer and huffs in annoyance as Kageyama snores quietly in his ear. "Oi, dumbass, you're talking in your sleep again."

Kageyama once again doesn't answer him, and continues to snore, blissfully ignorant of Hinata's growing irritation.

Annoyed, and fully awake now, Hinata struggles as much as he can in the grip Kageyama has on him. "Seriously, idiot, let go of me!" He exclaims. "If you're just going to keep me a prisoner in our own bed and snore in my ear then I'd rather sleep on the floor!"

He seizes Kageyama's wrists with his hands and forcefully pulls, although he quickly realizes that his attempt at escape is futile and lets go.

He glares at his hands in betrayal. "Weaklings!" He hisses at them before kicking his feet in agitation. "Kageyama! Wake up and let go of me before I punch you! I swear to God!"

"Hinata... Hinata, wait..."

Hinata ceases in his struggles as his ears perk, his protests dying in his throat at the pitiful, frightened tone of the voice.

Behind him, Kageyama curls closer, his arms tightening even more around his stomach, the grip nearly painful. Hinata sucks in a labored breath at the action, but ignores the pain in favor of closing his fingers around Kageyama's wrists again.

"K-Kageyama!" He huffs, once again yanking at the other boy's wrists.  "Kageyama, wake up! It's just a nightmare!"

"Hinata, wait... Don't go, please..."

"Dumbass, I said get up! It's not real, I'm right here!"

"Hinata, no! Don't leave me here! Wait!" Hinata's heart pounds heavily in his ears as Kageyama's cries become louder and more desperate. He struggles even harder to free himself from Kageyama's iron grip, so he could turn around and help his friend. He shouts.

"Kageyama!"

"Hinata!"

Kageyama's voice comes out as a scream, shrill and frightened. Hinata jerks as he's finally freed from his friend's hold, and nearly falls off the bed in his haste to turn around.

Kageyama scrambles backward quickly, releasing a loud yelp as his back and head collide with the wall. He looks like a cornered animal before anything else, curled in on himself, one hand fisted in the sheets while the other is held out in front of himself, almost as if he was trying to protect himself. His blue eyes were blown wide, wild with fear as they dart around the room. Hinata's heart clenches at the sight.

He stays in his crouch near the bottom of the bed, seeing it wise to give Kageyama space while he was in this state. He holds his hand out hesitantly. "H-Hey," he mumbles gently. "Kageyama, are you alright?"

Kageyama flinches at the sound of his voice, and his eyes dart to his own in an instant, deep blue meeting light brown. His breath comes and goes in stuttering gasps, his chest heaving in an effort to breathe.

"H-Hinata..." he croaks, his voice so quiet and weak Hinata barely hears him. "You're here..."

Hinata doesn't move from his perch as he waits a few more moments for Kageyama to collect himself. "Y-Yeah, dumbass..." he says, his own voice trembling anxiously. "Of course I'm here, why wouldn't I be?"

"You... y-you were gone." Kageyama's arm falls limp at his side, his irises still widened anxiously. "Y-You left me somewhere, it was d-dark and c-cold, and I was.... I was alone..."

His face twitches as he says it, his lips quivering and his eyes squinting. His hands clutch the sheets as if they were a lifeline. "I was so scared, Hinata..."

Hinata moves before he can stop himself, throwing his arms around Kageyama's neck and burying his face in his shoulder. Kageyama's arms return to their previous position around his middle, pulling his small frame as close as he could. Tears burn at the back of Hinata's eyes, and he grits his teeth, angry at the unfairness of it all. Kageyama's entire body shakes as he sobs into Hinata's hair, his arms tight against his ribs.

"I was so scared..."
