something small, but September is kinda busy so take that as you will (maybe I'll change the title if I think of smth else lmao)

all im gonna say to preface this one is: Victor feels things, established relationship, hurt/comfort,

Other then spoilers for Victor's backstory, another minor thing referenced is the 'mercury in retrograde' call because it makes,,so much sense,, of course MC is that type of person wow she is the best

Victor never considered himself someone whose mood changed with the weather around him.

The outside was the outside, obviously it should have no effect on however he was feeling. But as he looked out his tall floor-to-ceiling windows, he couldn't ignore the gloomy feeling the view of the pouring rain gave him.

He holds the handle of his cute kitten mug tighter, watching expectantly at the grey sky. Waiting for it's next movements as the rain seemed to get worse and worse.

Then, he hears the sound of footsteps, accompanied by quiet yawns, as a figure descends down the staircase. A smile builds on the edge of his lips as his eyes keep to the scene before him.

'Mm,' he can feel her soft cotton sleeves against his arms as she wraps her arms around his torso from behind. 'Morning.'

'Good morning.' still trapped in her embrace, he turns around. With his movements, she gets a short look at the outside.

'Wow, it's really pouring.'

'It is.' he agrees, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. 'Will that be a problem for you?'

'Why would it be?'

'If i remember correctly, someone's mood was affected when mercury-'

'Okay! Right! I remember!'

She moves her arms, taking his hand instead to pull him into the kitchen in the other room. 'That was in the past, alright? Things are different now.'

'Oh?' he asks, an eyebrow raised with genuine surprise. 'How so?'

He follows behind her, her back turned to him.

'Well, let's just say waking up to a certain someone lifts my mood greatly.' she imitates a certain tone, and Victor feels the heat rise to his cheeks.

The pitter patter of rain fades into the background of their morning.

-

The rain still hasn't stopped when they leave for their day around an hour later.

As he waits by the doorway, his figure ends up leaning against the doorway as he tightly crosses his arms.

It grew stronger. As the trees sway with the harsh winds, the pitter turns into a downpour.

'Okay, ready!' she appears at his side, ever at the right moment. Just as she said, her smile was bright, even in the grey that was this weather.

But, as she turns to face him the smile slowly fades. 'Oh, are you okay?'

'Why do you ask?'

'You look so...downcast.'

'Downcast?' he repeats. Pulling an umbrella from its place by the door, he opens it and holds it above their heads. 'I'm fine.'

'Oh. If you say so.' Her arm links with his as they make their way to the car. 'Hey, maybe the weather is getting to you instead of me.' she jokes.

He sighs. The one good thing about the rain was that the downpour muffled his own voice.

-

He's there again.

From bad to worse, Victor finds himself on that roof.

It's silent, but he's been here before. He's waiting, counting down the seconds until the door before him bursts open, and he sees the young evolvers escaping their capture.

Victor has lived through this scene more times then he could recall. He doesn't remember why he's here, he never does. But he wasn't going to walk away. Even if he couldn't do anything to help, he couldn't just leave.

The door opens and he finally sees the small pair. The boy leads the girl out, never expecting what awaits on the other side.

They stop when they see the evoler agents. The smaller girl cowers behind the older boy, but Victor can see the change in her expression as she realizes what's about to happen next.

In their final seconds present Victor tries to reach out. To try, anything really, but his feet are glued to the ground.

With a flash of white, lighting strikes.

-

He wakes up with a start. From where he sat up, he could see the window looking outside across the room. Lightning strikes once more, and the whole room flashes with it.

Where is she? what happened-

A soft voice and a gentle hand on his shoulder catches his attention.

'Victor? Victor are you okay?'

'MC.' he turns in his seat. Relief flows through his body immediately. 'Why are you here?'

She frowns, catching as he tries to change the subject.

'I've been at LFG all afternoon, but seeing you falling asleep at your desk...'

She motions to herself. It seemed he had been sleeping on her lap as she did her work against the sofa armchair. It was a dream. Of course, it was always a dream.

'I thought you would be more comfortable here.' she blushes slightly. His mind is still clouded, especially as he hears another strike of lightning.

'Victor,' she takes his hands in hers. 'You're shaking. Bad dream?'

He can't stop himself, nor did he want to in all honesty. He moves closer, with his arms over her shoulders, he hugs her close. With slight surprise, MC warmly holds him back.

They silently sit without question. Victor focuses on her sitting before him.

'I saw that night.' he says finally.

'Which?'

'The night we escaped.' he looks anywhere else. 'The night we tried to escape.'

'Oh.' she says with the quiet realization. 'It's the rain, isn't it?'

He nods into her shoulder.

'I wish I could control the rain for you.' she says as he leans back. Victor never tires of looking into her soft brown eyes, so kind and understanding. 'I'd make all the clouds leave.'

'Dummy.' he can't help the smile on his face. 'I'm not some child who needs to be cared for.'

'But it doesn't hurt, does it?' she says with a smile. 'Being cared for.'

'...no. I suppose not.'

She laughs, leaning close once more and pressing a kiss to his cheek. 'I would give you anything.'

'I don't need 'anything.'' back to their usual banter, he rolls his eyes.

His words are genuine. All he could ever want, or all he ever wanted, was right before him now.
