A sort of 'alternate ending' of chapter 18 because, well, you'll see soon

spoilers for that chapter btw

And, take all of the aspects of the story I mention with a grain of salt, I'm not 100% sure of what the Black Swan are intending to do with the Queen, but you know, this is an alternate ending, so the world can shift a bit

if she was really the MC, don't  you think she'd know how to use her own weakness against herself?

'And you can't fix it?' the old man shakes his head. Victor sighs as he looks down at the pocket watch in his hand. There was a crack down the center of the top layer of glass, and the watch's two hands had stopped ticking. But, what could he do?

He nods as he turns to leave the small house in the middle of the woods and the old man doesn't say anything as he steps out.

When he approaches her, she tilts her head slightly and takes his hand where he held the watch in a closed fist. 'What's this?'

Victor doesn't stop her as she unravels his fingers. Her soft hands are careful as she sees the object laying flat in his palm.

'A watch.' In a moment of realization, he closes his hand and slips the watch secure in his pocket. 'It's broken, anyways.'

'Oh, I'm sorry.' she frowns.

'Why are you apologizing?'

'Oh, um. Well, I just assumed that...' 'That what?'

'That that watch meant a lot to you. Because, well, you looked so sad when you came out of his house.'

Victor stood silent for a second, then he smiles back at her. 'So, you were watching me?'

'No!' her face blushed red never failed to amuse him.'Only because I was waiting for you, what else is there to look at?'

He laughs as he takes her free hand in his own. 'It's fine. Only if you look at me and me alone.'

Her eyes grow wide, but eventually her face changes into the same soft smile.

'Of course.'

-

As she brushes her teeth, she tries to hardest to stay awake, reading through her various forms of social media (though it did more harm than good as she's reminded of the city of Loveland outside Victor's home), counting the tiles that lined the bathroom floor, staring lazily back at her reflection.

But, as she looked through the mirror, her cute patterned pajamas turned into a dark black gown. With a flash of light, she seemed to turn into a different person entirely. But, as a flash goes, she is back to normal in a matter of seconds.

With her free hand, she wipes her eyes. Nothing changes this time and she is still herself, though blurrier after the action.

MC shrugs it off. Due to tiredness? Yeah, tiredness made the most sense in her mind. And she moves through the night like normal.

-

When MC opens her eyes, she stands forward, looking out into a bright white world. Her eyes adjust to the light, and she hears a voice from behind her. Not a voice, rather, a cry. The sobbing worsens as she turns around, and she meets the person face on.

A girl with soft brown hair and a dark black dress falls to the floor. MC is quick to fall to her side, as she takes her body in her arms. She cries, but MC cannot figure out why.
