It felt like a dream.

Sitting under the shade of a tall oak tree, she shuts her eyes, taking in the warmth of the summer day. And for that one moment, it was amazing, as all her stress and worries fell off her shoulder, relaxed and calm, until-

'I'm back!' there was never a dull moment with her daughter around. 'Mom, are you sleeping?'

'Just closing my eyes for a second, dear.' she says, replying as she opens one eye. Her daughter's dress was stained with grass, (her fault, for thinking she could retain cleanliness when she fully knew her daughter would love to roll around in the fields,) and in her arms and at her feet were a pile of white and purple wildflowers.

'Well, you can't go to sleep now! It's daytime! And you have to help me make this.'

She plopped herself beside MC, smiling expectantly.

'I'm ready! Let's make a flower crown!'

MC smiles as she takes the flowers out of her pile, weaving together their stems as the younger girl watches, attempting to follow along herself. 'And done.'

'I can't do it.' she says, dejected 'Can I have yours instead?'

'Come now, that was only your first try.'

MC places her crown on her daughter's head, wiping some dirt from her face as she does so.

'Try again. I'll help you.'

'How are you even so good at this?'

MC laughs. 'I've had practice.'

-

'I don't understand how you can do this so easily.'

The younger girl giggles. 'Have I found something even the 'Perfect Victor' can't do?

Victor rolls his eyes. 'I'm not perfect.'

He tightly ties the stems together, and she puts a hand atop his to calm him down.

'This is childish.'

'You could leave any time you want, Victor.'

A beat passes, and MC takes the failed crown out of his hand.

'And besides, why are you so quick to grow up, anyways? You worry too much.'

-

MC looks at the young girl before her now. With a look of determination, she tries her best to weave the stems as she did, and MC reaches out to run a hand through her dark black hair.

'Where is your Father?'

'I don't know.' she answers. 'I lost him in the field somewhere.'

'You know he hates it when you leave his sights.'

'He couldn't keep up!' she laughs.

'It wasn't you I couldn't keep up with.'

The mother-daughter pair looked up, and there he was. Victor Li, acclaimed CEO, with grass stains of his own covering his casual outfit, as he holds a small black cat in his hands.

'Put up a fight, didn't he?' she laughs.

The cat jumps from his arms and lands in his wife's lap, making himself comfortable, he falls asleep almost instantly.

'Look at that. You tired him out.'

'Him and I both.' Victor takes a seat beside her, leaning back against the trunk of the tree.

'Running around the fields like an animal.' she dotes on his light blue shirt, wiping the stain with no success. As she moves back, he catches her hand. She rolls her eyes. 'Who are you?'

Her hand never leaves his.

'Look, I did it!' their daughter holds out her third attempt.

'You're a natural.' MC takes the crown from her daughter's hand and places it on her husband. 'Unlike your Father.'

'I'll have you know, that was a long time ago-'

'Don't worry, Dad! I'll make Mom's. And you too, Pudding.' She pets the sleeping cat.

'Really reminds you of a different time, huh Victor?'

He hums, as MC leans her head against his shoulder.

'She is so much like you.' he answers. 'Same stubbornness.'

She flicks his forehead.

Raising their entwined hands, he presses a kiss against her hand.

'Same temper.' he adds.

'Go to sleep already,' she says, smiling.
