The ride over to Zaofu was pretty boring. The only thing keeping Sukara entertained was Bolin and his rambling about Opal. The others didn't look impressed though, which only made it funnier.

The four of them tried to stake out the city but it didn't look like getting in was going to be easy.

"There's a whole battalion outside," Lin said, putting her telescope down, "there's no way we could get past them unnoticed."

"Maybe we could try," Bolin started but he was cut off by a gravelly voice with a grumpy tone.

"Don't bother," it said, causing them all to turn round, "the prisoners aren't there."

Lin looked shocked to see the old woman standing there, "chief."

"Chief," Toph said, giving her eldest a nod.

"Grandma Toph!" Opal exclaimed, running forward and throwing her arms around the old woman, "it's so good to see you."

"You've really grown," Toph smiled, after being released from the hug, "you must've only been up to my waist last time I saw you."

"Oh My-- ahhh!" Bolin exclaimed, looking like he'd just been electrified.

"What's wrong with you?" Toph asked, giving him a glare after the noise he had made, "you gotta pee or something?"

"No, I mean now maybe, but no," Bolin said, trying to keep his words straight but he was so excited it was difficult to find them, "you, you're Toph Beifong. You're my hero."

"Oh," Toph laughed a bit before feeling Sukara next to him, "what about you? No fangirl moment for you?"

"I don't know who you are," Sukara told her simply, squinting a little at her eyes. She could've sworn that Toph hadn't looked at her.

"Oh really?" Toph said, entertained by the thought, "you have a pin on your jacket, that's earth kingdom right?"

"My clothes are green," Sukara frowned as the old woman continued not to look at her, "it's all earth kingdom."

"I can't see you missy," Toph said, waving her hand in front of her eyes, "I'm blind."

"Oh, sorry," Sukara apologised, feeling a little awkward for assuming but still confused, "but, how did you know about the pin?"

"I felt it, I can sort of see through my feet," Toph explained, wiggling her toes as she spoke.

Sukara still didn't quite understand but she felt too awkward to ask any further. Instead, she just looked at Lin for help.

"It's called seismic sense," Lin explained, taking pity on the fact that Sukara was too nervous to talk to Toph, "she can sense the vibrations through the earth. So she can sense her surroundings but not actually see them."

"That's amazing," Sukara said, wide eyed and fascinated by this ability, "could you teach me?"

"I invented metal bending and this is what you're impressed with?" Toph asked, frowning at her. Sukara gave a short shrug and made a vague noise that resembled an 'I don't know'. "oh it doesn't matter. What matters is getting my family back from Kuvira. I've been watching Zaofu from the swamp through the vines."

"Sure, makes sense," Bolin nodded, just trying to keep on everyone's good side.

"I went to check on them and asked around in the city," Toph continued, "turns out they were taken to some prison camp."

"I'm sure Bolin can help us there," Opal said sourly, folding her arms.

Bolin gave a sigh of guilt before speaking, "there is a re-education facility not far from here."

"Question is will Kuvira be there?" Lin said, turning to Sukara, "what do you think?"

"Dictatorships are narcissistic," Sukara explained, "it's very difficult to keep your emotions out of the way so, if Kuvira is threatened by Su or hurt, she might want to keep her close."

Toph frowned again, "and how do you two know all of this?"

"He used to work for Kuvira," Opal explained, her tone softening after explaining about Bolin, "and she's just smart."

"Not smart enough to know who the greatest earth bender of all time is though," Toph said, glaring at Sukara making her feel very uncomfortable, "what kind of earth bender are you?"

"I'm not an earth bender," Sukara corrected her, causing Toph to raise an eyebrow, "I'm an Avatar."

The old woman frowned again before kicking the ground, sending Sukara flying towards her. Toph grabbed hold of the front of Sukara's jacket.

"What's your name?"

"Sukara."

"I didn't think you were Korra," she said, tugging Sukara down to her level, "you sound different, and you're heavier in your steps. Not quite a twinkle toes."

Sukara didn't know what to say. She'd never been commented on about the way she walked before.

"So?" Toph demanded, "how come there's more than one avatar? Cause you're not a liar."

"Mom, we don't have time for this," Lin said, cutting in and pulling Sukara back up to standing, "we'll explain on the way."
