They had all had a wonderful few days but, sadly, now it was time to go home. They had packed up their things and were getting ready to head off in the air ship, saying their goodbyes and making sure they had everything.
As the slightly chaotic scene played out as Meelo had lost his glider and Tenzin had to go back to the room and find it, Su managed to pull Sukara to the side.
"Have you thought about my offer?" Su asked, hopefulness in her eyes, "about staying. Of course you'll have your job and quarters or a place in the city if you'd like. But I want to be clear, I know you have things tieing you to Republic City so, don't feel like you must say yes."
Sukara went to speak but Kai had jumped in after helping Jinora with her bags.
"So, looks like I'll be visiting a lot more now," he chimed, a big smile on his face.
"What?" Sukara frowned, not quite sure what he was up to.
"Well, you're gonna be staying here right," he said, his head tilted up as she still had the slight height advantage, "I think you should. Me and Jinora even talked about it last night, I think it'd be good for you."
"And you're sure?" Sukara asked, placing a hand on his shoulder. Truthfully, he had been the only real thing keeping her from staying. He had been so excited when she told him about her moving to Republic City, she didn't want to disappoint him by leaving again. "You don't want me to come and annoy you in Republic City?"
"I'm not a little kid anymore," he told her, "I know you see me like that but, I've grown up a lot since you picked me up in the Earth Kingdom. And I come through here all the time with Opal, I'll still get to see you."
Sukara let out a soft sigh as she wrapped her arm around his shoulders, hugging him tight.
"Of course I wanted you to be closer," he continued, "and this is so much closer than Femaoh. I want you to be happy and if that means here and not Republic City, I'm fine with that."
"Thanks kid," Sukara smiled, placing a kiss on the top of his head before ruffling his hair.
"So that's a yes?" Su asked, a grin on her face as she leaned into the conversation.
"Yes, it is," Kai said, answering for her as he skipped off.
Sukara smiled as she watched him almost bounce off towards the others. It hadn't been what she planned when she got here. In fact, she hadn't even planned to come but, life pulls you in its own direction sometimes.
She only hoped that whatever was going on with her at the moment didn't get worse. The nightmares weren't as bad when she slept next to Kuvira though, so hopefully that calmed her down enough for her to get some proper sleep for a change.
"I'm beginning to think that you don't want to live near us," Asami's voice said, snapping Sukara out of her thoughts.
"Stop it, I feel bad enough for leaving Kai again," Sukara laughed, trying to defend herself, "I don't need a guilt trip from you."
"I'm just kidding, at least you're closer this time," she smiled as she pulled Sukara in for a hug, whispering in her ear, "don't wear Kuvira out okay."
A strong blush went across Sukara's face. The suggestive comment had caught her by surprise, she didn't know what to say. She felt frozen.
"I'm just saying," Asami said casually, pulling out of the hug and starting to walk away, "not everyone has 20,000 years of experience."
"Oh my god, shut up," Sukara exclaimed, feeling the embarrassment rising in her face, "I knew there was a reason I'm not moving to Republic City."
Asami just waved goodbye sweetly as she made her way to follow the others. She had been careful so that no one was around them when she said it but, her comments had still left Sukara flushed and in a slight state of shock.
