It had been a long and tiring train ride back to Republic City and Sukara was exhausted as she put her key in the lock of her front door. Their lead on Guan had come up short. They couldn't find the man that hired Ozah and had decided to come back home for a day before heading out again. They all needed a break after their uneventful trip.

Sukara tried to turn the key in the lock but the door was already open. She assumed Kai was already home. Sukara pushed open the door, her eyes almost closed as she came through the door. After turning to close the door, Sukara felt someone come up behind her and put their arms around her waist. It made Sukara jump and tense up for a second.

"It's alright," Kuvira whispered in her ear, "it's only me."

Sukara relaxed and smiled as she let her hand slip off of the door handle and rest on Kuvira's hands.

"You're in my house," Sukara smiled, spinning in Kuvira's arms so that they were facing each other.

"Yes. I am," Kuvira said, giving her a gentle kiss.

"Why are you in my house?" Sukara asked, wrapping her arms around the back of Kuvira's neck.

"If we're going to face Guan again we're going to need the machine that reverses his brainwashing," Kuvira explained, stepping back so that Sukara could come into the house properly, "Asami asked if I'd help her build one so I've been in Republic City for a few days now. And I wanted to see you when I heard you were coming back."

Sukara smiled as she lead them into the kitchen. She dropped her keys on the counter and her bag on a stool close by.

"I mean, I always love to see you but I'm not staying long," Sukara told her, turning and leaning her back on the edge of the counter, "we got some intel on Guan being in the Fire Nation, so we'll be off again in a day or two."

Kuvira nodded as she came and stood in front of her. She lifted her hands to Sukara's face and held it, pulling it closer to her so that she could kiss her.

"You look tired," Kuvira mumbled against Sukara's lips, pressing their foreheads together.

"Where are staying?" Sukara asked, avoiding the comment.

"A hotel near the future industries factory," Kuvira told her, stroking the loose pieces of hair out of Sukara's eyes, "why are you tired?"

Sukara sighed, "I don't sleep well without you."

"Are you having nightmares again?" Kuvira asked, a concerned frown forming on her brow.

"My trauma is not exclusive to the dark spirit that lives inside me," Sukara smiled, resting her hands on Kuvira's hips, "I don't think I'll ever not have nightmares."

Kuvira smiled weakly as she leaned in and hugged her girlfriend. She put one hand in the base Sukara's hair and the other ran across her shoulders as Kuvira nuzzled into Sukara's neck.

"And you can stay here," Sukara said, her arms firmly around Kuvira, holding her tight, "you don't have to stay in the hotel you can sleep here."

"Thank you," Kuvira smiled, pulling back to look at her.

"And when I'm away," Sukara continued, "you can stay here as long as you like."

"As much as I would love to nose around the house while you're gone," Kuvira smirked, pecking Sukara on the lips, "you'll have to put up with me for a while longer. I'm coming with you to the the Fire Nation. Can't have any of you getting brainwashed."

Sukara smiled broadly, leaning forward and kissing Kuvira again. She let herself get caught up in it, deepening it as she let her hands wander to the parts of Kuvira she could reach.

"If you're going to make out in the kitchen, could you at least give me some warning first," Kai sighed as he came into the room, causing them to break apart feeling a little shy.

Sukara could only hold her laughter for a second before trying to hide her blushing face in Kuvira's shoulder.
