If It Were Me

Lounging on the carpet in front of the fire, Sukara was playing avatars with Voya. She held the Aang doll and Voya had the Kyoshi doll. In all honesty, she wasn't exactly following the storyline that Voya had come up with but she tried to keep up all the same.

As Voya seemed to make Avatar Kyoshi fly, Kuvira came and sat behind her wife.

"Iroh called," she mentioned, leaning back on the sofa to watch them, but Sukara seemed to take a larger interest than expected.

"Is there any news?" Sukara asked, sitting up more to hear what he had said.

"No," Kuvira sighed, raising an eyebrow at her, "I don't get why you want to be there so badly. They're just going to arrest him, there's not going to be some big fight. He's just going to prison."

"If he goes to prison," Sukara told her, "I'll break him out myself to get my hands on him."

"Sukara," Kuvira sighed again, Sukara's focus on killing Guan was getting a little annoying, "this isn't the way to do things."

"This is the way," Sukara protested, sitting up properly this time and turning to face her, "he deserves it. He kidnapped you, on our wedding day, and then tried to parade my defeat. It's insulting."

"You can't let your pride get in the way," Kuvira told her, frowning a little as she watched her wife getting worked up about it, "why do you need to do it? What does it do for you?"

"It keeps my family safe," Sukara said simply, "it protects our honour, it stops him from hurting other people. Do you want me to go on?"

"Your honour you mean," Kuvira corrected her.

"Okay, if it were me," Sukara suggested.

"Sukara--"

"No, if it were me that he had taken," Sukara continued, "would you not want to do it? You would just let him get arrested?"

"I've had the chance to kill Guan before," Kuvira said, sitting forward, "Su talked me down, and she was right--"

"No, that's different," Sukara cut in.

"Momma," Voya complained as she tugged at Sukara's arm, annoyed that her game had been stopped for this.

"One minute baby," Sukara told her before turning back to Kuvira, "that's different, that was before us and you were fighting him because he took the empire. Something you were letting go of, I'm not letting go of you."

"I know that," Kuvira said, reaching out and readjusting Sukara's collar, "which is why I don't want you to do it. I don't care what happens to Guan, I want you to exercise restraint for yourself."

"I hate to break it to you honey but murder really doesn't effect me that much," Sukara joked, "I've done it enough, I don't think one more for the road is gonna make a mark on soul you know."

"So that wasn't you crying outside of a cave a few years ago because you killed someone? I guess that was someone else," Kuvira said sarcastically, taking Sukara's face in her hands.

"I was going through a tough time okay," Sukara smiled softly as she looked up at her.

"I just want you to be happy in this family," Kuvira told her, rubbing her thumbs across Sukara's cheeks, "I want you to enjoy our life together and not be planning his execution all the time."

"Okay," Sukara said, kissing Kuvira's hands, "I'll drop it."

"Thank you," Kuvira smiled, looking up to check on what Voya was doing, "go on, I think you need to save Avatar Aang from Kyoshi."

Sukara looked back to see the pretend battle that was commencing. Aang laying down on the ground and Kyoshi in Voya's hands risen above him.

"Spirits," Sukara laughed, "I think we might need a Korra doll in a minute."
