The past few days had been like a dream. Sukara couldn't remember the last time she had been this happy. Actually, that was a lie. She could remember, Azula had just slipped her mind over the recent days. Being with Kuvira, just holding her made her feel so safe and calm, like nothing else mattered in the moment. She wasn't used to the height difference at first but she kind of liked it now.
It had come to the end of the evening again and Sukara was walking Kuvira back to her room. She knew she didn't have to, it was just nice to tell her goodnight.
"Are you ever going to come in?" Kuvira asked, leaning on the door.
Sukara looked surprised. She had only been in Kuvira's room once before and that was to break up a fight.
"You can't be that oblivious," Kuvira laughed, "the past two nights I've been trying to get you to come in here. And you always leave."
"What did I tell you about hints," Sukara chuckled, moving forward to lean on the door frame, "you've gotta be more clear."
"Come here," Kuvira said, hooking an arm around Sukara's waist and pulling her through the door. Once in, she shut the door behind them and pinned Sukara to it. "How's that for clear?"
"Better," Sukara smiled, looping her arms loosely around Kuvira.
With a soft smile and swift movements, Sukara kissed Kuvira and ducked underneath her arm to go and wander the room. She noted that the broken table was gone, it hadn't been replaced, there was just an empty space on the floor. The bed was neatly made, not a crease in the fabric.
"Was there something you wanted to show me?" Sukara asked, spinning to see Kuvira making her way towards the bed.
"Something like that," Kuvira smirked as she sat on the edge of the bed, "why, are you not staying?"
Sukara just frowned, she looked confused so Kuvira continued, "I know it's risky with you being my prison guard."
Gently, Kuvira reached out and took Sukara's hand, guiding her closer.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that," Sukara said, allowing herself to be brought over to stand right in front of Kuvira.
"Like you hang out with me all day for some other reason," Kuvira joked, tapping her lap lightly to tell Sukara to sit down.
The metal bender shuffled back so that Sukara was more stable as she straddled Kuvira so she was still facing her.
"Why else would I be here?" Sukara smiled sarcastically, metal bending the pins in Kuvira's hair so that they came out, letting the black strands fall down her back.
"You're cute," Kuvira said, holding on softly to Sukara. Running her fingers up and down her spine. "Stay. Stay with me tonight."
"Alright," stroking through Kuvira's hair, Sukara laid her down.
With Sukara's lower lip gently between Kuvira's teeth and hands underneath clothing, the two women didn't sleep for a long while after that.
It was only when the sun ray that slipped through a gap in the curtains shone across Sukara's eyes in the morning, did she actually realise that they had fallen asleep.
She squinted, trying to open her eyes but got blinded instead. Sukara shut them again, tighter this time trying to block out the sun. Lifting her head, she could feel bare skin under her hand. She explored a little with her fingers as her brain woke itself up. A smile on her face as she moved to bury her face in the crook of Kuvira's neck, hiding from the sun.
"We'll have to get up at some point," Kuvira mumbled, waking as the body next to her moved.
"But not yet," Sukara smiled, cuddling in closer, not wanting to ever leave from where she was now.
