Once they started marching through the town, word was sent to the Queen, who eagerly waited on the front steps. Cheers came from behind the knights as they moved through the streets. Months after being away, they were finally home, ready to take the days off and spend them with family.
A little girl wiggles away from her mother's grip, running straight towards the knights, trying to find her dad. Trying to look under the helmets, but there's too many knights around. Demi spots the little girl tearing up, before a knight kneels in front of her, pulling off the helmet, revealing a smiling man. The little girl lets out a shout, before jumping into his arms, a smile coming across Demi's lips.
The knights stopped in front of her as everyone came from behind. "Our soldiers are finally home!" She cheered, the people behind cheering as well. "For those of you who've been away for far too long, enjoy your vacation off. I thank you for your service. You're not only protecting me, but you're protecting your family and friends. Go to your families." There's cheers as knights lift off their helmets, going different ways as they try to find their family members.
But one knight stays in her place, staring at the Queen with a smile on her lips. Demi walked towards the knight, lifting off the helmet and watching the brown hair fall across her shoulders. "My Queen." Demi rolled her eyes, pulling her wife close as they kiss.
"My love, I missed you so much. I want you as my personal knight.." Lea gave a laugh, pulling Demi in for a tight hug, kissing the top of her forehead as they held each other tightly.
"I missed you too, my love. Tonight I'll be sleeping by your side, holding you close." Demi nods, kissing her wife one more time before they head inside, ready for the night to come.
