It took fifteen minutes to walk to the nursery homes so it was 9:30am. I walked in through the front entrance checking myself to see if any bruises were showing. I sighed in relief when my slightly tanned skin showed no bruises at all. I should be a make up artist. I blend make up in really well.

I went to reception.

"Hi, how can I help you?" the female receptionist asked politely.

"May you please tell me what floor April Winters is staying in" I said.

She nodded looking down to her computer "Mrs Winters would be on the 5th floor, room number 15" she said "friend or family memeber?" she asked.

"Friend" I said. The receptionist nodded while picking up the phone "I'll let her know she has a guest coming" she said while smiling at me.

"Thank you" I said and walked up the stairs to the fifth floor.

April Winters, known as Mrs Winters was always my first customer to by a book or to listen to a story. I loved her name. It was so pretty. I haven't read to her in ages. She knew about me and my troubles but she couldn't do anything because she couldn't walk, let alone win an argument with father.

I knocked on room 15. It automatically opened. I saw Mrs Winters sitting on her worn out couch "Hi Mrs Winters." I said.

Mrs Winters looked at me. She shut the door automaticlly with her remote. She didn't recognise me but still a warm smile appeared on her face.

"How can I help you dear, what's your name?" she asked.

Those were the first words she said to me when I first stepped into her apartment.

"Mrs Winters it's me, Jazmine Parker" I said.

Her aqua eyes widened and a massive smile apeared on her old face. Her wrinkles seemed to smile too.

"Jazmine! Is it really you?" she asked in excitment.

"Yes it is" I said.

"Oh darling!" she said and held out her arms.

I gave her a hug "sit down you must be freezing! The blankets are right next to you." I sat down next to her and put a blanket over me.

"Look at you all grown up! How old are you now?" Mrs Winers asked.

"Eighteen" I said.

How are things going at home?" she asked.

I sighed "things at home not so well" I said and frowned.

"What happened this time?" she asked.

I told her about my dinner with liz, Andrew, Ben, Jack and Luke and the situation at midnight. I also told her about my father hitting me. I loved times like this where I could just tell her anything and she will understand.

"Well that's great Jazmine he let you come for a proper dinner!" she said "he's changing a little."

I shrugged "yeah i guess."

I decided to leave the part about Luke out, just in case she knows anything and calls the police.

"I've tried Jazmine I really have" says April "I've tried calling all help lines and the police but due to my unstable conditions apparently to them I just see and hear silly things."

I nod "I know, I'm trying to escape too April, believe me."

"So why have you come here?" she asked.

"Dad's out and he coming back in three hours" I say "I decided to re-live my childhood and come to read books again."

Mrs Winters smiled "Jazmine you are a wonderful girl" she said and handed me two dollars "read me something that I haven't heard before."
