A Deferred Asset

Chapter 21

4am palang nasa airport na ako para sa flight ko. It'll be a long ride and it's a connecting flight going to Australia. After checking in, I went into the immigration and right after that, I sat down on one of the chairs in front of my boarding gate. I need to wait for a few more minutes before my boarding time so I took the chance to play LaVille, just as usual. And when my flight number was announced for boarding, I exit the game and walked into the boarding gate.

I showed them my ID along with my boarding pass before I walked into the gate. I added some photos on my Instagram story as I walked into the gate, and I'm not surprised anymore when my friends immediately replied as if they're really waiting for my updates as I travel abroad, knowing that this is my first time traveling overseas and I'm alone for the entire flight.

Napailing nalang ako habang binabasa ang kanilang mensahe habang naglalakad. Ibinaba ko naman ang phone ko nang papasok na ako sa eroplano at hinahanap ang upuan ko, which is a seat near the aisle. And after a long minutes of waiting, the plane finally took off.

It was still early in the morning, kaya hindi ako nakapagbreakfast, so I decided to just bought a breakfast on board. And while waiting for the cabin crew ro serve the food, I just look straight and couldn't hide my excitement knowing that I'll be travelling abroad.

Actually, it's one of my dream to go overseas if I'll be financially stable already. I even dreamed of going to a lot of places outside the country, but now that I could tell that I am stable financially, I thought of loneliness if I will be travelling alone. So that dream, slipped off my mind.

But now, the excitement filled my senses. Yet, aside from being excited for travelling abroad, I could tell that I'm also excited to see my father after 5 long years. I've seen his effort just to gain my forgiveness, and I ain't that selfish to get greedy for my own apology. I think it's time to forgive him, because after all, he was there and I was just being prideful.

After eating my breakfast, I found myself drifting to sleep and I was awoken by the landing announcement of the aircraft. I peeked through the window--2 seats from mine--to see how the outside and just like what Papa told me, mainit nga dahil summer season ngayon sa Australia.

Good thing, he informed me about it when he called me last time. Kasi kung hindi, nakacoat at boots na ako ngayon. But instead, I wore a velvet gold drop shoulder cropped sweatshirt paired with a white pegged pants and a white sneakers. Nang tuluyan ng magland ang aircraft at binuksan na ang mga pinto upang makalabas, sinuot ko na ang sunglasses ko at hinanda ang sarili sa pagtayo. I didn't put something on the overhead compartment, kaya dire-diretso ako sa pagoabas sa eroplano at tinahak ang daan papasok ng airport.

And since first time ko, I was clueless on where to go, kaya sinusunod ko na lang ang mga tao na bumaba rin sa sinakyan kobg eroplano. While walking through the gates, I chatted Papa and he immediately called me through the app, since hindi niya ako matatawagan gamit ang phone number kodahil hindi gagana ang sim ko dito.

"Anak." Bungad niya matapos kong masagot ang tawag niya. "Ano? Kumusta? Asan ka ngayon?"

"Ah, hinihintay ko pa po ang luggage ko. Kayo po ba?" Tugon ko.

"Papunta na kami sa waiting area ng airport.  I'll see you there Erelia." Aniya at napangiti ako.

"See you papa." Batid ko saka nagpaalam kasi natatanaw ko na ang bagahe ko.
