Catching.. something
≿━━━━༺☠━━━━
Harley Finley

"You're unbelievable!" I hushed, looking to the side of Colten's face with anger rushing through me. "You eat me out then run off like I'm some to-go meal!"

Colten's lips curled upwards just slightly as he continued to stare upwards. His Adam's Apple shook as a small laugh left his plump lips.

"What's so fucking funny?" I snapped.

His laugh grew into a chuckle with a shake of his head. "That's what you're upset about? Not about fighting your ex's ex and getting a busted lip or that fact we're both sitting in a jail cell?"

"Yeah, that's what I'm upset about, Colten!" I answered without hesitation, standing my ground when his narrowed eyes met mine. Those dark brown eyes swam in a sea of amusement as he smiled down to me, making me feel like the only woman in the whole world.

I don't know how he managed to capture my attention so swiftly and without fail every time we were in the same room. No matter who was around us, my eyes always found his. He was beginning to have this hold on me and my thoughts and I couldn't stop it.

Not that I wanted to.

I enjoyed capturing his attention as much as enjoying when he captured mine.

"You catching feelings, angel?" He asked with a tilt of his head.

"Maybe I am." I shot back quickly, not caring if I wasn't even sure yet. All I knew for sure was every time he was near me, touching me or even just talking to me, I felt a thrill of excitement run through my body and when he was gone, so was that heart pumping, feeling I had never felt with another man before.

His smile seemed to fade as he looked over the seriousness I held proudly. He rested his head back to the wall with a small sigh.

"Have to warn you, Harley, I don't think that would be in your best interest."

"And why's that?"

"Do you really want to know or are you just being a pain in the ass?"

"A little of both." I merely shrugged.

Colten's smile returned only briefly as he leaned over to my ear slowly, until his lips were touching my skin and his hot breath fanning my face sending my stomach into a pit of knots when I remembered the things he had done to me.

Then He whispered deeply and sinisterly, "Because if you were mine I'd spend every single waking minute of our existence giving you so much pleasure, you wouldn't want another mans touch. You'd crave mine and mine only. I'd strip you of your independence and spoil you with care if you gave me the chance. But there's a side of me I never want you to see." He paused with a deep, shaky breath, "I'd kill any man who dared lay even a breath on you, without remorse. Starting with breaking whatever limp he touched he with. Do you know how hard it was to watch another man grab your ass? If you were mine, I would have taught you a lesson right after I broke every bone in that assholes body. That's what you'd get from me, Harley. An arrogant asshole that falls so deeply, he'd kill for you, that would change your entire life just to keep you to himself selfishly."

I gulped at his tone and words, finally wondering how he ended up sitting beside me in jail.

"Don't worry. Ian will be fine but don't expect him to be grabbing your ass again any time soon." He whispered before placing a gentle kiss to my neck.

I adjusted my body to the chair with a straight back, trying to ward off the sparks that lit in my core with each gentle touch of his mouth to my skin. I closed my eyes and took in his aura of power that radiated from him like a nuclear plant. One that would be toxic for my health had I decided to become closer to the man I barely even knew even if we had spent so much time together.

His words of protection and overbearing dominance sparked a longing of needs I had wanted all of my life.

"Would you want me to be yours?" I asked confidently, only looking ahead to avoid his stare that I felt burning into the side of my face when he pulled away at my question.

This wasn't the place to have this conversation. But it was probably the only spot where Colten couldn't seduce me with his touch, only his words of admission could affect me and I felt them, sinking and burrowing deep in my soul like a fire taking over my intuition to keep running away.

"Had you admitted your feelings earlier, he'd probably have more than a few broken fingers." Colten mumbled in response, dancing around my question smoothly.

I wasn't able to say much more as Drew walked back in.

He looked between Colt and I with a silent groan of disgust. It made me wonder if he heard our private conversation or if he was just upset I was sitting beside a man he told me to stay away from.

Drew opened the cell door and motioned for me to follow. I couldn't help but give Colten my attention again, not able to move from his side.

I wanted to hear him say it, just as I had almost done. I wanted to know if he felt the connection forming between us that was twisting our arms at the elbows and forcing our pounding chests together.

Colten saw and turned to me with pursed lips.

"Go, angel." Colten rolled his eyes but seemed anything but annoyed. If anything he seemed relieved that I didn't want to bolt away from him at his admission.

I placed my hand to the side of his face, stroking the skin gently with my thumb until he eased into my touch. It felt as if I were taming a wild beast as we sat there content in each other's presence in the oddest place.

"I'll see you soon." He spoke softly, as if a plead to get me out of the godforsaken cell that he didn't think I belonged.

"Where we first met." I demanded of him quietly.

"No, no more bars for you." He joked with a soft chuckle. "Elijah will be here soon. Wait for him."

I continued to gaze into his eyes, hoping I'd see more than just the browns and tans molding together in such an artistic way. But there was nothing, nothing but hidden secrets.

Just like everyone in this godforsaken town.

The words of my father rang in my mind, over and over staring into his hardened, almost emotionless eyes.

"Where did you put the key?" I squinted when his body tensed.

"Harley, you don't need those keys." Colten quickly shot back defensively.

I couldn't help but recoil my hand with a shake of my head. I slowly stood to my feet as I internally fought my heart.

"Fuck, Harley. Don't be like this." Colten stammered, trying time follow me but Drew quickly shut the door behind me.

"I really wish I trusted you, Colten." I murmured loud enough for only him and Drew to hear.

"God fucking dammit. Don't do anything fucking stupid, Harley!" Colten yelled after me with his forehead pressed against the bars.
