Pregnant

(A/N: these next chapters won't be in "consecutive order" meaning there will be some small time jumps so pay attention to the beginning part of the chapters.)

The world around me froze. The doctor dressed in business appropriate attire no longer held my attention. All my body could seem to do was stare ahead at the baby posters that now represented my life.

Colten had taken over questioning the doctor, asking how it was possible for me to be pregnant.

On fucking birth control.

Why call it that?!

How about meh maybe, probably won't get knocked up by a guy that is craving your eggs.

But the conversation was blurred and replaced with the one Colten had with me before even making this appointment. His voice echoed in my mind;

"He said you were pregnant. That you wouldn't be able to keep it. Harley, no, don't cry. Just listen to me. I'm here. We'll figure it all out. We won't let them dictate our lives. It'll be okay."

It was far from okay.

My eyes burned with tears that threatened me as I looked at my bare stomach, not able to see or feel a difference yet but it was there. In my hand, I held proof of the photos of the barely six week old fetus that was clinging for life against my uterine wall.

I placed my hand gently to the skin, teasing it with my thumb, until my emotions turned into a rock hard exterior.

"Where do we go from here?" Colten asked, snaking an arm around my body and holding me tight to his side.

"Well," The Doctor sighed and took a seat in front of me but even if I was looking right at him, I couldn't hear a damn thing come out of his mouth. "There are two options if you want to try to keep the pregnancy. We could keep the IUD in place, only removing the strings or remove it completely right now. Our best bet would be to remove it since it most likely shifted. There's risks towards the pregnancy either way. Your chances at miscarrying and complications during the pregnancy would be high in both scenarios. We could also terminate the pregnancy now, remove the implant and you two can try to conceive again next cycle."

Colten lightly shut his eyes, inhaling a shaky breath with the pads of his fingers clinging to my arm.

"Do we have to make a choice now?" I asked, my voice breaking, ready to cry but not in front of the doctor.

I kept promising myself to stay strong. That this wasn't the doing of anyone else but me and the choices I made towards my birth control.

There was no way a complete stranger could know I was pregnant.

It had of been a lucky, unfortunate guess.

"Today would be preferable. I can give you guys some time alone if you'd like."

"Please." Colten softly spoke, earning a nod from the Doctor before he left. Colten stood in front of me, caressing the back of my head and easing me into his chest. "I think you should have the abortion."

I practically shoved him away, hatred driving my emotions and masking the sadness that was begging to be released.

"Why would you say that?! All you talk about is having children with me. Has it been a lie? Just something you say to fuck with Elijah?" I snapped, yelling loud enough that I was sure patients in the rooms next to us could hear me.

"Harley, absolutely not." He cooed, pulling me back to him with a sigh, "At least, this way we know we're going to lose our little one. We won't have to worry day after day about a miscarriage. You wouldn't be blaming yourself if it does happen. Then next month, we have sex until your swollen with my children. Under better circumstances."

I shook my head into his body with a stern, "No."

"Harley. Angel," Colten spoke no higher than a whisper, guiding my chin upwards to look at him, "you will have my babies. I want you to have three of them. Two boys and a girl. Hell, I'd take care of as many babies as you want to push out. Starting now would be fucking amazing, everything I ever wanted but, I don't think you could take a miscarriage."

I went to protest but he hushed me.

"You lost your mother, your father, just found out your ex boyfriend is crazy and held us hostage. Holding on to this pregnancy, hoping for the best, only for it to be taken from us.. I really don't think you could handle it and I know you're a strong woman who thinks she could take on the world but this, this isn't something you have to put yourself through just because I'm always saying I want the children you'd give me."

"But what if they take out the implant and I have a perfectly healthy pregnancy?"

Colten's eyes softened, showing off how glossy they had become. "I just want to know you'd be okay if that wasn't the case."

"I wouldn't be but I don't think I can go through with an abortion knowing there's hope for our little baby." I whimpered, looking down to my stomach again.

"Our baby." He murmured back, hovering his hand over over my stomach with a frown. "Can I feel your belly?"

I gave him a soft nod, moving backwards so his large hand covered most of my abdomen. He slowly fell to his knees and rested his nose into my stomach.

"Hey, little guy." He cooed softly. "It's Dad. Your Daddy."

All I could do was watch him and listen to the baby talk easing into his tone.

"You have the strongest mommy. She would fight for the both of us in a heartbeat. She already fought for me so now it's your turn." He placed a gentle kiss to my skin, holding his lips there with his eyes clamped shut.

I rummaged my fingers through his hair, holding him closer and finally expelling a tear.

Colten stood, wiping under his eyes before I could even get a chance to see them wettened. "Let me go get the doctor." He kissed the top of my head before exiting the room, leaving me alone with my unborn child that I prayed the God above would grant me.
