There rest of that day went by in a swift breeze. Arvin and I watched the tv, talked and laughed, other things (no they didn't do it. It would be in the book if they did( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)).
I woke up in the middle of the night, Arvin's back facing me as the moonlight hit us both. It being a full moon, it was bright, and I knew I wouldn't fall back asleep for a while, so I chose to get a glass of water.
Slowly, I made my way out of the bed, hearing Arvin shudder for a moment, which made me pull the blanket up to his shoulders.
I tip toed into the kitchen, grabbing a glass and filling it with the tap water from the sink, my mouth starting to dry up.
Now, if you've ever woken up in the middle of the night with your mouth feeling like the Sahara Desert, then you'd understand how relieved I was to drink the water, despite it tasting foul, but at the same time delicious.
I cleaned then dried off the cup, setting it back in the cupboard. As I passed by the short hallway that lead from the kitchen to the small living room, I heard a thud outside the hotel room, alerting me.
I furrowed my brows, slowly walking over to the hotel room door. I pushed myself up onto my toes, looking through the peep-hole.
I first saw nothing before a dark figure flashed by the small hole, startling me. I gasped loudly, turning to see if Arvin had awoken, glad he hadn't.
I looked back through the peep hole, making sure the coast was clear before I slowly unlocked the door, peeking my head out and looking around.
I once again looked back to Arvin before snatching the keycard off the small table next to the door, stepping out and looking around once more.
I walked up and down the hallways, a confused look on my face as I realized no one and nothing were in the hallways.
I looked into a hallway I had yet to walk into, frowning at the a man who stood by a window. My gut told me to go back to Arvin, who had most likely woken up by now and noticed I had disappeared.
But my mind told me I should go to the man, despite me having no weapon to protect myself.
My bare feet, with a mind of their own, went both directions, the one going to the man winning the battle as they slowly moved me forward.
The man shifted, causing me to freeze in place, only for the man to sense my presence, turning around.
"Arvin?" I whispered with a frown as the boy, who was just asleep in our hotel room, smiled at me, gesturing for me to come over to him.
Reluctantly, I did, standing next to his side as we looked out the window together.
But something seemed... off.
I turned to Arvin, a smile on my face as he rolled up the window, a cool breeze brushing past us. I shivered, causing Arvin to wrap his arms around me, the smile on his face staying.
I looked up at him, smiling as he looked down at me.
And then his smile faded, as if he looked betrayed. I frowned at him, confused.
"A-" suddenly, I couldn't speak, his hands wrapped around my throat tightly as he squeezed. I gasped for air, unable to do so as he lifted me up.
I attempted to scream for help, but I soon found myself falling.
Out the window.
I gasped, jolting awake as I shot up, breathing in air with relief, my hand around my throat as I tried to pry of a hand that wasn't there.
Arvin, who felt the sudden moving, woke up, turning on the lights and squinting.
"Emily? What's wrong?" He whispered, causing my head to snap his direction, eyes wide in fear as my chest rose and fell quickly.
"Emily-" his eyes opened, his hands now on my arms as he stared at me, a fear in his eyes. "You're okay." He said as I nodded. Suddenly, he frowned an angered look on his face before it turned sinister.
"For right now, at least." I gasped once more as he pinned me to the bed, his hands once again around my throat.
He looked so angry, like I had done something wrong. I scratched at his hands, trying to free myself from his literal death grip, but his fingers barely moved.
I tried to scream once more, my eyes shutting tightly.
And once again, I woke up, gasping for air as I felt Arvin shaking me.
"Emily! Emily you're okay!" He said with a true face of fear. I looked around before my eyes met his, my breath shaking as I nearly broke into tears.
Arvin lifted me up, pulling me into a comforting hug as I finally broke down, sobbing into his shoulder, my arms wrapped tightly around his torso.
"I-It's okay, darling. Everything's fine it was just a bad dream." Arvin said quietly as I continued to cry, quieter now as Arvin laid back, half my body now on top of him.
"I'm sorry I woke you up." I said quietly as I collected myself.
"It's okay, Em. I've been up for a while anyway." He reassured as I nodded.
I hated making Arvin worry. I didn't want him to wake up because I had a silly bad dream.
I knew Arvin wouldn't kill or hurt me intentionally, but at the same time... it terrified me to think that he could.
But I knew he wouldn't.
I let out a final shaky breath before Is hit my eyes, Arvin's hand caressing the top of my head as we both fell back asleep, the bright moonlight hitting every perfect angle on Arvin's face.
As I pondered falling back asleep, my mind started to think about the future. Me and Arvin escaping the States, moving up to Canada and possibly getting jobs there.
Maybe buy a small house. Or a large one.
Getting married...
And maybe, possibly-
Starting a family of our own.
