11 months later
I sat down at the kitchen table, by bell bottoms swaying side to side as I tapped my leg up and down, waiting impatiently for Arvin to arrive home.
He had gone out to get cake for the both of us, seeing as he wanted to celebrate our 20th birthday together. At this point, I felt older than I was.
I had set up a few simply decorations for me and him. A couple balloons here and there, and I managed to snag a bottle of champagne and other liquors.
I heard the front door unlock, my legs shooting me up as I walked out of the kitchen, staying under the arch leading from it to the large front room where Arvin stood, a nervous yet beaming smile on his face.
"Hello darling." We said together as I walked up to Arvin, enveloping him in a hug and kiss as he kept the cake steady in his hands.
"Did you find the cake?" I asked as he nodded, showing me the chocolate Cherry cake.
"Found a few other things too." Arvin asked as I looked up at him, tilting my head as I furrowed my brows together.
"What do you mean?" I asked as Arvin smiled, allowing me to follow him from the kitchen to the courtyard out back.
I felt nervous, like I had done something wrong, but as Arvin stopped us under the rose vine arch, that bad nervousness was turned good, but I was still consumed with curiosity and confusion.
Arvin turned to me, hands behind his back as we stood under the large arch that led to my garden.
"Emily. There have been... so many terrible things that I have done these past two years, terrible things that I regret greatly." Arvin started as I frowned, tilting my head away as I looked into his puppy eyes.
"Arvin?" I asked quietly as he disregarded my word of confusion, continuing his own.
"And, I couldn't have asked for anyone better than you to be by my side as I went through a dark path. A path we went through together. I will forever be great full to have had you with me." He said with a nervous yet confident smile as I laughed nervously.
"Of course Arvin. I wouldn't have changed anything." I said as he smiled, pressing his lips together.
"Emily. You are, in just one word, astounding. You, I don't even know if I can describe how much I love you. So... I'll try and put it simply, with four, small words with a big impact."
Oh. My. God. I thought to myself as my eyes widened. My heart started to beat faster as I took a single step back, tears welling up in my eyes.
At this, Arvin removed his hands from his back.
And got on one knee.
"Emily Rose Rowling." Arvin said with the biggest smile on his face as he showed me a small box in his hand, opening it to reveal an engagement ring.
"Will you make me the.. happiest person alive?" He asked as I stared at the ring in shock, starting to silently cry.
"Will you be by my side, until the day I die? Will you fight with me through a sickness I can fight off? Will you let me love you endlessly?" He said as we both smiled.
"Will you marry me?"
Everything in the world stopped at those words. I burst into tears, nodding so hard I thought my head would rip off.
"Yes, Arvin. I will so marry you." I cried out as he breathed out a smile, shooting up as he engulfed me in a hug before pressing his lips to mine.
