My head hit the cold window as Arvin hit a bump in the road, jolting me awake with a thud. He chuckled, apologizing as I scolded him.
"Where are we?" I said, looking out at the morning light. Arvin sighed, shrugging.
"If I'll be honest, Emily, I have no clue." Arvin said as he looked at me with tired eyes. I frowned at him for a moment.
"Why don't you pull over? Let me drive for a little bit. You've been awake since 2 in the morning." I said as Arvin sighed, nodding as he pulled off the side of the road.
We switched sides, and as I began to pull back onto the road, Arvin's head dropped onto my shoulder. I smiled, turning to kiss the top of his head as he shifted to be more comfortable.
"You can rest now." (*Sobs*) I said as he smiled tiredly, shutting his eyes as I started to drive.
The car ride was silent for the next several hours until I had to use the restroom. Arvin had woken up a few minutes before that, and had to use it as well, along with find a place to eat.
We stopped at a gas station, and while I used the restroom, Arvin filled the tank before going to the restroom.
I grabbed several snacks for us before heading back to the car, stopping when I heard someone whistle.
"Hey there, pretty lady." Someone slurred. I sighed quietly as I turned to see a man, quite obviously drunk or just stupid, walking over to me, eyeing me up and down. "What're you doing here all by yourself?"
"I'm not-"
"Why don't I show you something fun?" He asked as I glared at him, shaking my head as he stepped forward.
I didn't back up, even after he was merely a few feet away from me. "Come with me, girl. It'll be fun." He said with a disgusting smirk, one where I had to hold back a gag.
"I'm not going anywhere with you." I said coldly as he laughed.
"I don't think you have a choice!" He reached out and gripped my arm. I tried to reach inside the car to grab my gun, but my fingers barely reached it as he yanked me back.
"ARVIN!" I screamed before the man slapped a dirty hand over my mouth. I muffled screams as I kicked and thrashed around, the man only laughing at my struggles.
I heard the bell of the gas station door ring aggressively, hearing the snap of the door. The man turned his head, right as Arvin threw a punch across his face.
The man bowled in pain as he released me, falling to the ground. I backed up against the cat as Arvin grabbed the man by the front of his shirt, throwing punch after punch at the mans face.
I watched as the mans face started to bleed everywhere, Arvin's knuckles splitting open. His face was red with anger, and I had to yank Arvin off the man and throw him in the passengers seat.
"Just.. just let me-" I cut Arvin off with a roar of the engine, quickly driving away.
"Arvin you were going to kill him!" I yelled as he looked at me, his face still red in that same anger.
"He was going to do far worse things to you!" Arvin argued as I sighed. After a few minutes of silence, I pulled off the road, stopping to look at Arvin's bleeding knuckles.
I huffed, carefully taking his hands in mine, leaning back to grab a rag, wiping off the blood on his hands. He only watched me in silence, and after the blood had stopped running, I kissed his fingers, making sure I didn't accidentally get any blood on my face.
"Thank you Arvin." I said quietly as he looked at me with a puppy look, one that I had quickly grown to love. He pressed his lips together, nodding slowly.
"I just don't want to see anything bad happen to you." He said as I smiled, rubbing his cheek with my thumb.
"I know Arvin. But I don't want to see you kill someone, even if they deserved it." I said as he sighed, nodding.
I leaned forward, giving him a quick kiss before I started to drive again.
