"Come along, children!!"The teacher said in her usual cheerful voice as she guided her class to the models of different types of buildings.
Most people would be appalled at the sight of this particular teacher and her third-grader class, as all of them had very strangely colored hair and eyes. Even the teacher herself had bright yellow hair in an elaborate bun and yellow-orange eyes.
But then again, this was New York.
And then again, again, this wasn't a normal class, especially not after what the teacher started talking about.
"Alright children, these are the facilities that humans use!"She chirped cheerfully, before pointing at a model of a house.
"This is a living unit, also called a hou-ouse! Packs called fam-ah-lees live here!!"She chirped, stretching out the words house and families both to get the pronunciation to stick with the 9 year olds, and because the word was unfamiliar to herself as well.
"Who are the families made up from?"a young girl in the class asked, raising her hand as she asked. This particular girl had rust red hair arranged into two buns at the sides of her head and pale green eyes. She also had a large red birthmark on the back of her right hand.
"Well, Io, families are usually made up of an adult female human, a 'mother', an adult male human, a 'father', an adolescent male, a 'son', and an adolescent female, a 'daughter'!"The teacher chirped happily, before her eyes popped back open and she pointed at the little girl.
"I told you to raise your hand and wait to be called!"She said sassily.
The girl just giggled.
A silent girl, her face hidden behind a book, raised her hand.
"Yes, Eris?"The teacher asked, leaning down so she was at their level.
The silent girl put down her book, revealing her face.
The nine-year old was very serious looking. Her black hair stopped an inch below her chin, seeming to float back up into curls. Her eyes faded from green to dark purple, and were very unamused looking.
"Is it not true that a family can also have a male mother? Or therefore a female father?"
"Yes! How smart of you to figure that out! This is mostly because of a thing called 'love,' which we will discuss tommorrow! For now, we need to discuss our own living arrangements! As you know, some of you will be sharing a room, and therefore, those in a room together will be on a team together!" The teacher said before she started calling out strange names and the rooms the owners of those names would be staying in.
"Eris Plutono, Room 333 on the top floor!"She called out, causing the bookworm from earlier to look from her book, wondering who else would be with her in this room.
'We are being arranged into groups of three, and I'm the first one to be called for this room, so, obviously, two more people will be staying with me.'The strange girl calculated, as at least ten more names were called out.
"Amoeba Dogstar, Room 334 on the top floor!"This got young Eris' attention.
This young boy had been fabled to have a murderous family line, and Eris peeked over her book again, and was surprised.
This wasn't what she'd calculated.
This boy had light brown hair, so light that there was a bit of pure white at the edges. his eyes were nervous and were white, with only the black edge of the iris and the pupils to identify it.
He nervously traced star shapes on his wrist, and Eris took notice of the other students there.
There was that girl who forgot to raise her hand. How childish.
Names:
Eris= The third one
Io=The first one
Haumea=The second one"We should make up a team name!"
"Are you really insisting on doing something so childish?"
"Oh come on! We're only in the third grade, by human school terms!"
"....What about the foodies?!"
"No! Plus, that name is probably already taken. You know the humans and their copyrights..."
"How about the I-don't-want-to-be-here's?"
"Shut up! We get it, we're childish and you don't wanna be here!!"
".....What about Catching Stars?"
