Chapter 12 - The Last Temptation of Barry Allen Part 2...Part 1

MacKenzie's POV

Dark Flash speeds through the group, throwing everyone and everything in the cortex to the side

When the lights come back on, with sparks flying from a computer, everyone looks around. "You guys okay?" Frost asks, looking around at everyone on the floor

"Where's Mack?" Iris' voice asks with a slight groan

"She's right here." Frost says after looking around and seeing me next to her

"Then yea, I'm good." Iris says as everyone starts pushing themselves off the ground

"I don't understand." Iris says. "That wasn't Barry."

"Yeah, it was." Frost says. "Ramsey turned him into one of his Blood Brothers."

Cisco runs over to the alcove, opening a panel and typing in a passcode. He pulls down a lever and a voice says, "Babel Protocols initiated."

"What's Babel Protocols?" Frost asks. "I thought that was just some defense stuff that you added to Barry's suit."

"That was version one." Cisco explains. "Version 2. 0 puts up a force field around S.T.A.R. Labs. Nothing gets in, nothing goes out. Not even our comms." He says, going over to the computer and typing. "Built for two reasons. The first is if there was ever a time Mack was in STAR Labs alone and one of our baddies was roaming around."

"And the other?" Frost asks

"In the event that...if the Flash ever went dark." Cisco says

"Barry said that Ramsey gave him a choice." Iris says. "Why... why would he choose this?"

"Maybe he decided eternal life was better than dying in Crisis." Frost says

"I don't think my dad would ever think that way." I whisper, looking at Iris

"Ramsey's using Barry." Cisco says and we look over. "And whatever he's having him do, he's got a plan."

Iris, Frost, and I are in the cortex as Cisco checks other rooms in STAR Labs. Frost types on a scanner

"You have a police scanner?" Iris asks

"I'm hoping that since this thing transmits in analog, we can figure out what's going on outside S.T.A.R. Labs." Frost says

"Let me see it." I say, walking over to her and holding my hand out. "I might be able to figure out the tech." Frost hands me the scanner and I lean against the table, typing

"I don't get it." Iris says. "Why didn't Ramsey just have Barry kill us as soon as he woke up?"

"I don't know, but don't count us out yet." Cisco says. "You know the tech Mack and I have been working on? Meet the Photon Emitter." He says, holding out the emitter

"So what, you built a ray gun?" Frost asks

"It's not a ray gun, it's a weapon that can deliver megadoses of photon radiation." I speak up, putting the police scanner down. "We haven't--"

"Look, this thing produces the same kind of radiation typically administered to cancer patients." Cisco says, cutting me off

"What exactly does it do?" Iris asks, looking between Cisco and I

I gesture to Cisco to explain. "My theory is that these photons could be strong enough to destroy Ramsey's sentient infection." He announces. "If I get close enough to blast him, he should revert back to his human form. He'd still have HLH, but at least he wouldn't be a gooey zombie overlord anymore."
