MacKenzie's POV

Iris walks into the cortex with a burn mark on her arm

"Iris." Cisco says, standing up

"Mom!" I exclaim

"Boss, you're okay." Allegra says

"Yeah, no, I'm fine, but my source isn't." Iris says. "The person that tried to k!ll me got to him first. Hey, Cisco, where's that binder?"

"Right here." Cisco says, handing it to her

"Thanks." Iris says, looking through the binder. "Where is it? Where is she? Her. Dr. Kimiyo Hoshi."

"Hoshi..." Cisco says. "She went missing four years ago. She's an astronomer out of Tokyo with the power to fuel starlight, but her meta-powers aren't precise enough to do the kind of damage you showed me in those photos."

"What if she used the Photon Rifle to focus them?" Kamilla asks, pulling up another picture

"Good thinking, maybe the reflector chip could condense her UV photon emissions." Cisco says

"The rifle is the weapon." Kamilla says

"No, she's the ammunition." I say

"So Black Hole turned her into some kind of evil light doctor." Allegra says

"So we've got a brand new, more powerful, murder-happy Dr. Light on our hands." Cisco says

"Well, that's just fabulous." I say

"Another new meta-surprise courtesy of Earth-frakking-Prime." Cisco says, kicking a chair

"Actually, you know what?" Iris says, pulling something out of her pocket. "Hoshi killed my source, but I managed to save some evidence that he gave me. Ow." She groans, moving her arm. She pulls out a flash drive but it's broken. "Damn it." She grows, throwing it on the table and taking her jacket off to reveal a burn on her arm

"Hey, you should sit down." Allegra says

"I'm fine." Iris says

"Did you get hurt out there?" Kamilla asks

"I said I'm fi–" Iris says before she passes out

Allegra and Kamilla catch her

"Mom!" I exclaim

"Call Frost, now." Allegra tells me

Iris and I are sitting in the medbay bed, Iris with her arm around me. Caitlin had fixed Iris' arm and now we're watching the news on the TV

Joe walks into the room with a water bottle. "Here you go." He says, handing it over to her

"Thanks." Iris whispers, accepting it

"So you gonna tell me?" Joe asks. "Your thinking. Running this story."

"I knew what I was doing, Dad." Iris says

"Really, Iris?" Joe asks. "Frost told me. You have fifth-degree burns. My forensics guys have been in your office for hours, and they found nothing. There's no bullet holes, there's no casings. If that assassin would have murdered you today, I would have no evidence to bring her in."

"Black Hole attacked my office." Iris says. "Dad, they nearly killed my friends. They could have killed my daughter." She says, putting an arm around me. "They murdered my source right in front of me. He's dead because I asked him to speak up. And I have to honor that by exposing each and every person behind this organization, so I'm sorry, Dad, if you want me to give up I–"
