Chapter 11 - The Last Temptation of Barry Allen: Part 1

3rd Person POV

Barry and Mack run into the medbay to see Ralph seizing on the bed

"Give us a hand!" Frost exclaims as Barry runs over

Mack pulls to a dead stop, staring at Ralph's seizing body on the bed

"What happened?" Barry asks

"Ramsey." Cisco says

"Come on, Coach, we... we still gotta go on that road trip, right?" Frost tells Ralph as the machine beeps faster. "He's gonna die." She breathes

Mack snaps her attention to Frost and her words. Mack's tears break and run down her cheeks silently

"Frost, how do we save him?" Barry asks

"I don't know!" Frost exclaims. "I can't fix this. Uh... maybe Caitlin can." She closes her eyes and melts away. Caitlin surveys the scene before getting to work. "Ralph's elastic cells aren't mending like they used to. Ramsey must be getting stronger."

"Ralph can't heal himself?" Cisco asks

"No." Caitlin answers. Then she looks at Barry. "But maybe you can."

"What?" Barry asks

"Your speed healing is the only thing we've seen that can repair damage this severe." Caitlin says. "Maybe if we gave him a blood transfusion, that would fix him."

"What are you saying?" Barry questions. "I... I could give Ralph my speed healing?"

"Theoretically, temporarily, yes." Caitlin says. "I don't know, we're sort of in uncharted medical territory here. But your blood type is O-negative, so you're a universal donor."

"Guys, Ralph is elastic." Cisco says. "No needle can puncture through his skin."

"I can phase him." Barry says

"Will that work?" Cisco asks, looking between Caitlin and Barry who share a look as well. "Do it." He says

Caitlin sticks a needle into Barry's arm and Barry phases a needle into Ralph's arm. The beeping slows down as Ralph calms down

Caitlin, Barry, and Cisco share a look of relief before Cisco's eyes catch something behind the group. "Guys..." Cisco whispers, nodding his head

The group looks at Mack, frozen in fear with her eyes trained on Ralph in the bed and tears down her cheeks

"I got her." Caitlin says. "You stay here." She tells Barry who nods, looking at his daughter with his heart aching, wishing he could comfort her

Caitlin makes her way quickly over to Mack, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her out of the room

Iris walks into the medbay to see Barry sleeping in a chair and Ralph unconscious on the bed. She touches a hand to Barry's shoulder and he startles awake

"Hey. How is he?" Barry whispers

"He's stable thanks to you." Iris says. "We contacted A.R.G.U.S. , and they're gonna move Ralph to a secure medical facility for recovery. Cisco is prepping for transport right now and Caitlin--"

"How's Mack?" Barry asks

"I was just getting to that." Iris says. "MacKenzie is at Caitlin's place. She's fine."

"She was so scared..." Barry whispers, putting his head in his hands. "I mean her and Ralph...I don't even know what you would call their relationship but... but it's strong."
