MacKenzie's POV

"You know...when you said you would give me a ride home, I thought you were actually going to take me home." I tell Frost, turning around on the bar stool in the lounge of STAR Labs

"I will soon." Frost tells me. "I just...I needed a drink first." She says

"I can see that." I say, looking at the bottle that she has drunk a lot from

"Don't judge." Frost tells me. "Here." She says, tossing me another piece of chocolate. "Keep yourself occupied."

"Am I a dog?" I question

"Do you want the chocolate or not?" Frost asks, pulling more out of her pocket

"I do." I say, grabbing the chocolate and unwrapping a piece

Footsteps sound down the hall and Nash walks in. "Oh. It's just you two."

"I know, we're not very exciting people." I say, popping a piece of chocolate in my mouth

"Yeah, I thought, you know, maybe it might be the you know, the girl, the what's her name?" Nash says. "Abbondanza."

"Allegra?" Frost supplies

"Yeah, Allegra." Nash says. "That's her."

"Why are you looking for her?" Frost asks.

"She's she's this nano-dimensional bucket auger, it's hers, and she wanted I was bucket augering, but now she wants to bucket auger, so I was like anyway, what are you doing?" Nash jumbles his words. "Sitting here drinking by yourself?"

"Not by myself." Frost says, nodding in my direction

"Yes, hi, I'm here too." I say, waving my not broken arm

"She's not drinking." Nash says

"Valentine's Day drinking to celebrate what a screw-up I am." Frost says

"That's some deep rooted stuff." I mumble

"What is that?" Nash questions

"Naltorian mead, left to us by one of the previous Wells." Frost says, holding up the bottle. "You know, back when there were other Wells in the multiverse." Nash looks down. "Sorry. Nash, I didn't–"

"It's fine. It's fine." Nash says, pouring himself and her another drink

"See what I mean?" Frost says. "Everything I touch turns out sucking. I mean, how do I explain to Ralph that he's wasted the last five months trying to teach me how to be a better person? 'Cause doesn't matter how much litter I pick up, how many sick kids I read to, I still don't get people. I really thought I could help Allegra fall back in love with her ex, but instead, I just made a mess of everything."

"You know, you got lost." Nash tells her, sitting on the other bar stool. "Now you just get back on the highway, and find new inroads with this Allegra. Easy-peasy. You know, I don't know her very well, but perhaps she's one of those people that just sees things in absolutes, right? Black and white. Missions fail or succeed. Right? You know what you need to do? You need to get back in there with her. Open her up and show her that things aren't just black and white, you know? Black and white, that's just for death and taxes. Everything else, everything else happens in the grays." He stands up, putting his cup on the counter. "Oh, and don't say you don't 'get people'. Because if that were true, this girl," He says, gesturing at me. "Well, she wouldn't stick to your side so willingly if that was the case." He says before leaving the room

"He's got a point." I tell Frost after a moment of silence. I stand up off the bar stool. "Nothing is just black and white. And love? Well, that's one of the reasons I stick with you. I love you." I tell her. "Can we go now? I'm tired."
