The two wearily walked together, into the chamber. (y/n) could feel like dread rising up in her chest, resting at her throat in a lump. Her palms shook as she wiped them down several times on her robe, ridding them of the seat that had built up.

Harry gave her a reassuring smile, the same one he had been giving her since the day they met. She would never admit it, but it really did help.

They stood on a long pathway, multiple giant snake heads on either side of them leading up to what looked to be a great big statue of Salazar Slytherin's head. The floor was puddled with the murky water the snake heads were in, causing the air to be damp and musty.

"Ginny?" Harry gasped.

(y/n) gulped as Harry started running forward to the small figure sprawled on the ground at the center of the chamber. Gripping her wand harshly she jogged up towards him, instinctively grabbing the arm of his robe in trepidation.

Harry dropped his wand and bent down to shake the unconscious girl, talking rapidly. (y/n) stood trembling beside him, unsure what to do to help her.

"Ginny! Wake up, wake up! Please wake up!" He pleaded. (y/n) sensed footsteps behind them, swiftly turning she was faced with a handsome young boy, no older than 17, marching towards the three.

Her breath quickened and she backed up into Harry, who was still knelt down beside Ginny. "Potter.. Who is that?" She snapped, hitting his shoulder lightly with her wand.

Before Harry could respond the boy spoke up, "She won't wake."

Harry furrowed his eyebrows at him, while (y/n) just stood confused. The boy took a few steps closer.

Now in the light, (y/n) could make out some of his features. He had curly dark brown hair, and strong prominent facial features. He was wearing a Slytherin uniform with a prefect badge on the collar of his robes. Although (y/n) couldn't recall ever seeing him in the Slytherin common room.

He oddly reminded her of her own mother, who had carried herself with the same class and sharpness as the boy did, almost in a conniving way as if they felt they were better than those around them.

"Tom?" Harry asked from beside her, still knelt beside Ginny.

(y/n) hesitantly took her eyes off the boy and back towards Harry, "Tom?" She questioned him.

"Tom Riddle." Harry glanced at her quickly then turned back to Tom, "What do you mean she won't wake up? She's not-"

"She's still alive, but only just." Tom cut him off. He made a face at (y/n) as if he recognized her, then hurriedly shook it off finishing his trek towards them.

"Are you a ghost?" Harry asked, finally standing up.

Tom shook his head, "A memory, preserved in a diary for many years." Harry scrunched his eyebrows in confusion.

(y/n) tightened her grip on her wand, "What the fuc-"

"She's cold as ice." Harry cut (y/n) off, gently tapping Ginny's wrists. "Ginny please don't be dead, wake up!" (y/n) turned her attention back to Harry and Ginny, which in doing so gave Tom the perfect chance to grab Harry's wand, which he had foolishly left on the ground beside him.

"You've got to help me Tom." Harry begged, "There's a basilisk."

Tom smiled, shaking her head indifferently, "It won't come until it's called."

(y/n) stared at the older boy, finally noticing he was now in possession of Harry's wand. "Can memories use magic?" She thought.

Gently nudging Harry she whispered, "Potter he's got your wand,"
